On May 14, 2025, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the head of the Malaysian company Petronas Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik.

Expressing gratitude for the time devoted to the meeting, the guest noted that it is a great honor for the company he heads to work in Turkmenistan, where a favorable investment climate and all the necessary conditions for business created. At the same time, it was emphasized that bilateral cooperation has reached a qualitatively new level of development.

Having warmly welcomed the head of Petronas, the head of state expressed confidence that the upcoming meetings during his visit to our country will contribute to the further strengthening of bilateral relations and wished him success.

As it was emphasized during the meeting, cooperation between Turkmenistan and Malaysia is based on mutual respect and equality. Regular high-level visits contribute to the development of bilateral ties. In this regard, the President of Turkmenistan noted that he remembers with warmth his official visit to Malaysia in December last year and expressed confidence that the results of the negotiations with the head of the Petronas company will give additional impetus to the further expansion of the partnership between the two countries and take it to a qualitatively new level.

As noted, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the constant strengthening of bilateral ties with Malaysia in the areas of economy, trade, transport, energy, education, culture and others. The main vector of Turkmen-Malaysian cooperation is trade and economic, where positive experience of interaction with leading Malaysian companies has been accumulated. In this context, the role of Petronas in the consistent development of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and Malaysia was emphasized.

The interlocutors identified the fuel and energy sector as a promising area of cooperation between the two countries. Noting that the company has been actively involved in hydrocarbon resource extraction projects in Turkmenistan for almost 30 years, also carrying out relevant work to train highly qualified specialists for the oil and gas industry, the head of state confirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to consider specific proposals aimed at developing established positive interaction in new areas.

Expressing gratitude for the enormous trust shown over many years of cooperation, the head of the company assured the President of Turkmenistan that Petronas will continue to remain committed to its obligations.

At the end of the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized his readiness to further development of fruitful cooperation for the benefit of the two friendly nations, addressing to the head of the Malaysian company Petronas Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik his best wishes.
