In the current conditions, political and diplomatic interaction between the Central Asian countries and the European Union can have a noticeable constructive impact on the overall situation in the region and neighbouring ring countries, and contribute to the efforts of the world community in this direction, primarily represented by the United Nations, said President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the first Central Asia-European Union Summit, which is being held in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan.
As was emphasised, Turkmenistan proceeds from the common intentions to see Central Asia as a peaceful, economically attractive region, a territory of stability and predictability, not drawn into geopolitical conflicts and contradictions. In this regard, the head of state confirmed our country's readiness to work to achieve these goals in accordance with its neutral status and international obligations.
Having placed special emphasis on the current issues of the global agenda related to countering traditional challenges of the time and new threats, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan proposes to move to effective joint steps, including the development of modern effective protection mechanisms based on the latest scientific and technological developments.
