In early 2024, according to the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan «On celebration of the 300th birthday anniversary of the great thinker and poet-classic of the East Magtymguly Fragi», a great deal of work was carried out in the country and abroad to study and popularise globally his rich and invaluable literary-philosophical legacy, which has become a part of golden treasury of human spiritual culture.
Declaration of 2024 as the «Year of the great poet and thinker of the Turkic world - Magtymguly Fragi» by the International Organisation of Turkic culture (TURKSOY), inclusion of a collection of his manuscripts in the UNESCO International Register of the Program “World Memory” as well as the 300th birthday anniversary of the outstanding master of poetry in the list of significant dates, which will be marked together with UNESCO in 2024-2025 clearly speak of international recognition of creativity of the Turkmen classic.
The overall objective of ideological message of the motto of 2024 «The Fount of wisdom of Magtymguly Fragi» - raising of the patriotic spirit of people, augmentation of glory and international authority of our native land, facilitation of moral education of the youth and encouragement of Turkmen nationals into new achievements. Approval of the motto of the year connected with the poem of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, devoted to Magtymguly Fragi, became a symbol of deep honouring of the great son of Turkmen people, his richest literary heritage.
In Turkmenistan throughout the year various actions with participation of numerous visitors - International Olympiads in higher educational schools, creative and agitation -explanatory actions, briefings, media forums, seminars, exhibitions, scientific-practical conferences, song –music events were carried out.
On February 9, at the extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, head of the state Serdar Berdimuhamedov, having underlined that a great deal of work is carried out today to study and popularise in the world the rich literary heritage of Magtymguly Fragi, signed the Law «On establishment of the anniversary medal of Turkmenistan «Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna».
The issues connected with organization of actions, devoted to this significant date and announcement of 2024 as the «Year of the great poet and thinker of the Turkic world - Magtymguly Fragi», were also discussed at the regular meeting of the National commission of Turkmenistan for the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO) held on January 20.
In the international conference «The concept of peace of Magtymguly Fragi and diplomacy of neutral Turkmenistan» held on February 18 at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of the country, it was noted that the civil position of the poet was based on respect for other people, good neighbourhood, democracy and traditionality. It became a basis of maintenance of neutrality of Turkmenistan, a source of wisdom, continuity and topicality of diplomatic activity of our state that is called as dialogue of civilisations.
Serving as a prologue to the celebrations of 2024 devoted to the 300th birthday anniversary of the great thinker and poet, a significant event took place in the southern part of the Turkmen capital where an opening ceremony of the monument to Magtymguly and a new cultural-park complex «Magtymguly Pyragy», the initiator of creation of which is Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, was held on May 17.
Within the actions on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of the Turkmen poet in May, the International scientific conference «The Fount of wisdom of Magtymguly Fragi» and the International conference at level of ministers of culture of foreign states were organized.
Day of workers of culture and art and poetry of Magtymguly Fragi marked on June 27, was celebrated with bright events. It included exhibitions, literary evenings, concerts, thematic conferences, meetings, «round tables», briefings and others.
On the occasion of celebration of the 300th birthday anniversary of great poet-classic Magtymguly, on October 11, Ashgabat hosted the International forum «Interrelation of times and civilisations - a basis of peace and development» and in its framework – the flower laying ceremony at the monument to the outstanding master of poetry erected at the picturesque foothill of the Kopet Dagh.
The rich heritage of Magtymguly has predetermined a basis of the foreign policy of Turkmenistan: his firm ideas of peace, justice, humanism, friendship and brotherhood, respect of all and everyone make an essential impact on interaction with foreign countries. The friendly states of the world bring a contribution to organisation of the international actions on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of the poet-classic of the East, taking an active part in them.
During the current year Embassies and Consulates of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Turkiye, Azerbaijan Republic, Ukraine, Republic of Uzbekistan, the Kirghiz Republic, Republic of Korea, Georgia, the Russian Federation, Armenia, Romania, Republic of Kazakhstan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, the Austrian Republic, France, People’s Republic of China, United Arab Emirates, Great Britain, Afghanistan, Republic of Tajikistan held international scientific conferences, seminars and lectures in secondary and higher educational schools, thematic meetings, briefings, «round tables», displays of films, exhibitions, the concerts devoted to the 300th birthday anniversary of the great thinker.
So, the international scientific conference organised on January 5 by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Turkiye underlined the scope of celebration of the significant date in our country and abroad and attested to recognition of creativity of the great poet and thinker of the East at world level.
The thematic meeting held on January 16 in the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Azerbaijan was concluded with show of the documentary film «Hakyň guly - Magtymguly» in Baku by the Oguz khan Türkmenfilm Association.
On January 23, the Embassy of our country in Georgia organised a «round table», devoted to the motto of the year «The Fount of wisdom of Magtymguly Fragi». During the creative evening held that very day in the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine poems were recited and vocal compositions on verses of Arkadag «The Fount of wisdom of Makhtumkuli Fragi» and Makhtumkuli both in Turkmen and Ukrainian languages were performed as well as the film of the life of the poet was shown.
Thematic briefings organised on January 25 in the Embassies of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kirghiz Republic an emphasis was made on importance of the great heritage of Magtymguly, which became an integral part of world cultural treasury.
On January 29, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania hosted a meeting at which it was underlined that creativity of Magtymguly Fragi is popular today all over the world, his fine poems are translated into tens of languages, including into the Romanian.
On the occasion of the 300th birthday anniversary of the classic of Turkmen poetry, philosopher and thinker of the East on January 30 in Moscow the Embassy of our country in the Russian Federation organised the event with show of the video clip of achievements of modern Turkmenistan. Turkmen students educated in Russian higher educational schools recited patriotic poems of Magtymguly.
On February 3, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Korea hosted a meeting devoted to the motto of the year in our country «The Fount of wisdom of Magtymguly Fragi».
On February 8, in the city of St.-Petersburg the Embassy of our country in the Russian Federation organised a creative meeting on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of the classic of Turkmen poetry Magtymguly Fragi.
On February 13-14, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Armenia and the Union of Artists of Armenia held the photo-exhibition devoted to the motto of 2024 in our country «The Fount of wisdom of Makhtumkuli Fragi» as well as the 300th birthday anniversary of the great master of poetry in Yerevan.
On February 20, at the Yerevan State University the lecture «The philosophical heritage of Magtymguly - a basis of the external doctrine of Turkmenistan» was read. In the same higher educational school, the international scientific-methodical conference, literary readings and the lecture, devoted to the life and works of Magtymguly Fragi on March 11-12 were organised.
On February 15-25, the international conference and exhibition «Magtymguly Fragi - Turkmen educator, thinker and poet of the world» organized in the National library of Romania by the Embassy of Turkmenistan, a video clip of the life and creative way of Magtymguly and a documentary film of achievements of our country, prepared by the Romanian national television were shown. Students recited poems of Fragi in different languages.
On February 23, in the building of the Consulate of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Kazakhstan (city of Aktau), a briefing devoted to the motto of the year in our country «The Fount of wisdom of Magtymguly Fragi» and to the 300th birthday anniversary of the outstanding Turkmen poet and thinker was held.
On March 4, in Kiev the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine the event under the title «The Fount of wisdom of Magtymguly Fragi» at which ensembles of Kiev secondary and children's music schools performed vocal compositions on verses of Magtymguly and Mollanepes in Turkmen and Ukrainian languages.
On March 12 and 16 in Teheran the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Islamic Republic of Iran with assistance of the Institute of Culture of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) organised a solemn action and exhibition devoted to the great Turkmen poet.
On March 13, in the Viennese Diplomatic Academy with assistance of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Austrian Republic the International scientific conference «The heritage of Magtymguly Fragi and Turkmen culture in Europe» took place.
On March 15, at the initiative of the Embassy of our country in Japan at the capital university of Tsukuba and higher school of Higashiosaka a series of lessons and exhibition on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of Magtymguly were held.
In February and March, the permanent mission of Turkmenistan at the United Nations Branch in Geneva in the building of the Palace of the Nations a number of cultural actions devoted to the 300th birthday anniversary of the great poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi were held.
The lecture for students was organized to the birthday anniversary of the outstanding master of poetry in March by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Korea and Republic of Singapore, in the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the People’s Republic of China a solemn reception was held and in the city of Maisons Laffitte - the creative action organised by the Embassy of our country in France took place.
The Lipetsk regional organisation of the all-Russian public organisation «Union of writers of Russia» together with the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Service at the President of the Russian Federation with support of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation organised on March 21 in the online format the International scientific conference «Influence of Magtymguly Fragi on the Russian literature».
In April-June, within the celebration of the birthday anniversary of the great poet and thinker of the East, the Embassy of Turkmenistan to the USA together with the Permanent mission of our country at the United Nations in Washington held literary evenings, exhibitions, presentation of stamps, chess and football tournaments, mass bicycle race.
It is necessary to note that the sports actions organised by diplomatic representatives of our country abroad, were held in Romania, Armenia, Great Britain, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Georgia, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Germany, Kazakhstan, France, and India.
In May-June, on Day of workers of culture and art and poetry of Magtymguly Fragi in Turkey, the Russian Federation, Republic of Uzbekistan and Ukraine flower laying ceremonies at the monument to Magtymguly were held.
In July-October, Embassies of Turkmenistan in Georgia, Republic of Uzbekistan, Byelorussia, Ukraine, the Russian Federation, People’s Republic of China, Kirghiz Republic, Azerbaijan Republic, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Malaysia the cultural actions devoted to the 300th birthday anniversary of the outstanding poet and thinker of the East Magtymguly Fragi, which included the international scientific-practical conferences, art exhibitions of Turkmen artists, photo works and publishing-polygraphic production, creative evenings, «round tables», concerts, presentations of collections of verses of Magtymguly in different languages, master classes on preparation of national dishes were organized.
Opening ceremonies of the monument to Magtymguly Fragi on July 4 in Astana (Republic of Kazakhstan) and its bust on September 30 in the territory of the All-Russia State Library of Foreign Literature named after M.I.Rudomino in Moscow were held.
On November 1-2, in the region of Cappadocia of the Republic of Turkiye actions on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi took place and 300 thermal balloons decorated with Turkmen and Turkish flags and also banners devoted to the significant date released into the sky. The Eurasian Association of Economic Relations (EkoAvrasya) as the very first air festival of similar scale held to honour the outstanding person registered the given action. Thereupon the corresponding certificate was handed to the Turkmen party.
On November 22, in the building of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Great Britain a creative evening and display of the film devoted to the birthday anniversary of the great poet and thinker of the East Magtymguly as well as exhibition of his works in English were organised.
On November 24, at the Beijing University of Foreign Languages (BUFL) the scientific conference «The Fount of wisdom of Magtymguly Fragi and humanitarian relations between China and Central Asia» and presentation of the new edition of 100 selected poems of Magtymguly in the Chinese language took place.
On November 29, in the building of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Turkiye an opening ceremony of the Research Centre named after Magtymguly Fragi and the first session of the Turkmen-Turkish research community on study of creativity of the great master of poetry were held.
Thus, a big role is given to the creative heritage of Magtymguly Fragi who incorporated deep wisdom of poetry of the East in development of national cultures. Dreams and ideas of the outstanding Turkmen poet are conformable with transformations taking place in the Era of Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state carried out under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and reflect the peaceful foreign policy aimed at strengthening of security, ensuring of sustainable development, expansion of cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
