On October 16, 2024, Ashgabat hosted the regular, 13th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation.

A delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the country S. Ziyozoda arrived in Ashgabat to participate in it. The Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T. Atakhalliyev

During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of the agreements reached at the 12th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, held in Dushanbe in 2023. The agenda of the Joint Commission meeting included priority issues of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere. Promising areas of bilateral partnership include the energy sector, transport and logistics, agriculture, and the industrial complex.

At the same time, the meeting participants spoke in favor of developing new forms of promoting economic cooperation on a long-term basis. In light of modern realities, strengthening cooperation in the scientific and technical sphere, in the field of introducing advanced technologies and innovations, is also becoming especially relevant.
