On October 10, 2024, negotiations were held in the Turkmen capital between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who arrived in our country on an official visit.

In the afternoon, the leader of the friendly country, accompanied by an honorary escort of motorcyclists, proceeded to the «Oguzhan» Presidential Palace Complex. Here, at the central entrance, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was warmly welcomed by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Upon entering the Palace, the heads of state meet with members of the official delegations of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

At the end of the official photo ceremony against the backdrop of the national flags of the two countries, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the «Rowaç» hall, where high-level one-on-one negotiations took place.

Having thanked his Kazakh counterpart for accepting the invitation to visit Turkmenistan on an official visit and take part in the International Forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet and thinker of the East Magtymguly Fragi, the head of state also expressed gratitude to the distinguished guest for his great personal contribution to the development of bilateral strategic partnership.

As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted, this is already the fifth Turkmen-Kazakh summit meeting this year. Such regularity testifies to the high level of trust and openness achieved in recent years in interstate relations, and to the mutual interest of the parties in their further strengthening and expansion.

Having stressed that Turkmenistan is firmly committed to further strengthening fraternal and friendly ties with Kazakhstan and is ready to continue working together in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres, the head of the Turkmen state expressed confidence that today's negotiations will open up great opportunities for taking bilateral cooperation to a qualitatively new level.

Having expressed gratitude for the invitation to visit Ashgabat and the warm welcome, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that Turkmenistan is a very close country and a strategic partner for Kazakhstan. The Kazakh leader also noted the importance of regular bilateral high-level meetings, which serve as a solid foundation for expanding multifaceted cooperation.

The personal merit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in strengthening and developing interstate relations was especially noted.

During the talks, Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev discussed a wide range of issues of Turkmen-Kazakh cooperation and exchanged views on a number of pressing issues of regional and global agenda of mutual interest.

The negotiations then continued in the «Soltan Sanjar» hall in an expanded format, with the participation of members of the official delegations of the two countries.

Having warmly welcomed President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and members of the delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the President of Turkmenistan noted that the current official visit of the leader of the friendly country serves the goals of further strengthening the interstate dialogue of good-neighborliness and close cooperation, expanding the areas of partnership, and entering new promising areas.

A striking symbol of the friendship and brotherhood of our peoples was the opening this year of monuments to outstanding personalities – the Turkmen poet, philosopher and thinker Makhtumkuli Fragi in the capital of Kazakhstan – Astana, and the Kazakh poet, philosopher and educator Abai Kunanbayuly in Ashgabat.

Touching upon the sphere of trade and economic cooperation, the head of Turkmenistan highly praised the achieved level of cooperation in various sectors and the accumulated experience at the government and departmental levels.

Transport and logistics are also a strategic area of partnership, due to the extensive capabilities of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan in forming transport and transit corridors along the East-West and North-South lines. Here our country fully shares the initiatives on the need to build transcontinental highways through the territory of Central Asia.

Among other areas where our countries can actively cooperate, the head of Turkmenistan singled out the agro-industrial complex, the chemical industry, mechanical engineering, textile production, and a number of other industries.

Having identified the consistent development and deepening of cultural and humanitarian ties as one of the most important areas of interstate cooperation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted with satisfaction that they have noticeably intensified in recent years, and various joint events are being held.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and all members of the Kazakh delegation for their constructive approach and readiness for an interested and substantive discussion of issues of strategic partnership.

The floor is given to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On the instructions of the Presidents, the governments of the two states are working quickly on issues of further development of the partnership.

As for trade and economic cooperation, as President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted, significant progress has been achieved here, especially in recent years. A number of projects in the fields of industry, transport, logistics and other areas are at the implementation stage. Interaction in the energy sector, in particular in the gas industry, is developing dynamically. A significant contribution is provided by the regularly held meetings within the Intergovernmental Commission, the latest meeting of which took place last week, and the active work of the Business Council.

Along with this, cultural and humanitarian ties are gradually strengthening. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for supporting the cultural heritage of the Kazakh people, as well as for presenting the jubilee medal «Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna».
