Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Dimitri Kerkentzes.

Expressing sincere gratitude to the head of state for the time and opportunity to discuss topical issues of cooperation in a personal meeting, the guest underlined the continued interest of the BIE in expanding traditional cooperation with our country, noting the high level of Turkmenistan in organizing exhibitions at international venues.

Welcoming the guest and thanking him for his kind words, the head of state expressed his conviction that the current visit will serve to strengthen Turkmenistan’s partnership relations with Bureau International des Expositions.

Our country successfully pursues an open door policy, paying special attention to the development of large-scale international cooperation, envisaging not only the development of world best practices, but also the promotion of local goods and services on domestic and foreign markets, which positively affects the integration of international exhibitions into the world economy and mutually beneficial cooperation.

During the talk, the interlocutors exchanged their views on further areas of cooperation in exhibition and fair activities carried out under the auspices of the BIE, as well as on the possibilities of studying best practices in this area.

As the head of state noted, program measures are being implemented in Turkmenistan to develop international trade and economic cooperation, highlighting that the “Concept of international exhibition activities of Turkmenistan for 2024-2025” was recently adopted, according to which our country intends to further expand cooperation with the BIE.

As a member of the Bureau International des Expositions, Turkmenistan actively participates in world and specialized exhibitions, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated. As you know, in recent years our country has been represented at exhibition venues in Shanghai, Milan, Astana and Dubai.

In this context, the head of state cordially congratulated the Secretary General of the BIE on the start of the EXPO – 2023 Doha International Horticultural Exhibition, held under the auspices of the Bureau International des Expositions, on October 2 of the current year in the State of Qatar, wishing the forum success. As it was noted, the pavilion of our country has been organized at this international review, and it is planned to hold the National Day of Turkmenistan on October 9.

The head of state also noted the interest of our country in participating in the EXPO-2025 World Forum in Osaka (Japan), underlining that the established organizing committee is carrying out appropriate work in this direction.

In his turn, Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions Dimitri Kerkentzes noted that he got acquainted with the Turkmen pavilion presented at the International Exhibition held in Doha and received great impressions. The guest expressed confidence that the joint events will facilitate building up productive international cooperation, further integration of our country into the world exhibition space.

In this regard, the head of state noted the great potential for expanding cooperation with the BIE, emphasizing that in the future Turkmenistan intends to consider the possibility of holding exhibitions of international importance and global development in our country.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and his guest expressed confidence in further intensification of effective cooperation and exchanged wishes for sound health and great success in their work.
