Today the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit.

During the conversation, it was noted that the peoples of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan are connected by centuries-old, historically established ties of friendship, common culture, language, traditions and spiritual values.

The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted with satisfaction that at present, based on such a solid base, the Turkmen-Tatarstan cooperation is developing very actively and covers more and more new areas of interaction. Regular high-level meetings make it possible to discuss a wide range of issues related to traditional partnership and determine its prospects for the future.

A special place on the agenda of the multifaceted Turkmen-Tatarstan cooperation is occupied by the development of trade and economic ties. In this regard, the need was emphasized to increase export-import operations, as well as to expand the nomenclature and assortment of mutually supplied goods and services. According to the head of state, it is necessary to support the establishment and development of direct contacts between business circles, the creation of joint ventures, and intensify efforts to attract them to participate in exhibitions, forums and fairs.

In the light of the above, an important role is assigned to the Joint Turkmen-Tatarstan working group on trade-economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation, which coordinates the activities of the relevant structures and monitors the entire range of bilateral contacts.

During the meeting, Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Rustam Minnikhanov discussed the implementation of the agreements reached earlier and important joint projects being implemented in various fields, as well as outlined a number of new areas of long-term successful cooperation built on a mutually beneficial basis.

Noting also the well-established fruitful cooperation with the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation in the humanitarian sphere, including through science, education and culture, the President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed the interest of the Turkmen side in expanding ties in this direction, which acts as a bridge of friendship and rapprochement between our peoples.
