The next issue of the quarterly popular science magazine “Miras”, published by the Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts named after Magtymguly of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, has gone to print. A series of publications devoted to the study of the richest historical and cultural heritage of the Turkmen people, the results of research conducted in our country and new archaeological finds continues on its pages.

First pages of the issue contain the messages of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of the holiday of Turkmen alabay, International Day of Neutrality, New Year as well as to participants of the international festival and conference "National song and music art in the heritage of the peoples of the world”.

Under the traditional heading “Discoveries and new developments” the article titled “Parthia – first state in world history to have assumed a neutrality status with international agreements” is placed and on the basis of analysis of a number of historical sources, the author tells of interaction between Parthia and Roman empire.

Parthia first got its neutrality status recognized by concluding an agreement with Pompeius, which was signed in 69 and 66 BC. In the publication, it is noted that pages of that agreement became “golden pages “of world history, as for the first time a neutrality status was confirmed de jure. At the same time, the material made an emphasis on the fact that in the course of its history Parthia displayed patience in is clash with Romans demonstrating a simple truth: peace-loving and neutral did not mean weakness.

In the same column, there is an article of the plot “Gorogly”, which is widely spread among Turkic speaking peoples and research works of scholars of various countries in this field.

The article “The role of arrow and bow in the Seljuq diplomacy” is also brought to the attention of readers. As the author marks, since olden days Turkmens used to consider bow and arrow sacred. There were many traditions and customs connected with the epoch of Zoroastrianism, according to which they worshiped these items. In the diplomacy of Seljuq sultans, this type of weapon was considered as an attribute belonging to an ambassador and embassy. As a whole, it is underlined in the article that the image of bow and arrow of Oguz khan has a deep significance and attests to the peace-making force and diplomacy of Turkmen people.

In the section “Interaction of cultures, peoples and civilizations” the article of political, economic, cultural, scientific and educational links of ancient cities in Turkmenistan, in particular, Marv with various states of the world is placed. A special emphasis is made on bilateral relations between South Turkmenistan and countries of the Near East. According to the evidence given in the article of the author, scholars who lived in the territory of our present country, took a special place in development of Eastern Muslim culture and made a great contribution to world history.

The article under the title “Turkmen national games in fine art” brought to the attention of readers also underlines that it was one of the unique forms of national art, which had deep roots. Several cave pictures are given there as evidence of this subject from Bezegli-depe in the valley of Chendir. The tradition of embodiment of national games in fine art characters can be observed in fine art of various periods of history and it finds a wide reflection in works of Turkmen artists. As the author points out, these works act as power developing self-consciousness, life mode, life and outlook of Turkmens.

The regular issue of the magazine is concluded with a review of events of social, scientific and cultural life of the country for the fourth quarter of the past year.

In the given section topical events of the year “The epoch of people with Arkadag” demonstrating the sequence of the progressive peace-making course of the head of the state Serdar Berdimuhamedov aimed at the social sphere, find their reflection. Numerous photos, including museum and archives artefacts serve a good supplement to articles published in Turkmen, English and Russian.
