Turkmenistan is actively preparing for an important socio-political campaign - the upcoming elections of deputies of the Mejlis, Halk Maslahaty, members of the velayat, etrap and city Gengeshes. District electoral commissions work on the ground, as well as precinct electoral commissions, for whose employees training seminars are held. The event, scheduled for March 26th, is intended to be a new effective step towards further democratization of the Turkmen society, strengthening the principles of genuine democracy.
In accordance with the legislation in force in the country, the terms of each stage of the election campaign are prescribed in the calendar plan of events approved by the Central Election Commission for the preparation and conduct of elections.
The nomination of candidates is currently ongoing and will last until 24th of February. Events, meetings of committees for nominating candidates from the Democratic Party, the Agrarian Party and the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, as well as groups of citizens to discuss the most worthy candidates who will be entrusted with representing the interests of the people in the highest body of legislative power, are held everywhere. Among the applicants are employees of various sectors of the national economy, including education, healthcare, social security, culture and science, industrial, transport and communications sectors, agricultural workers, etc. At the same time, registration of candidates began on February 4th and will end on February 28th.
The defining principles of the current election campaign are its broad alternativeness, publicity and openness. Undoubtedly, the most worthy, conscientious citizens of Turkmenistan who put the interests of the Motherland above all else and enjoy the respect and trust of their compatriots will be elected as deputies of the Parliament, members of the Halk Maslahaty and the Gengeshes. Representatives of the people will have to solve a wide range of tasks related to the further successful political, socio-economic and cultural development of Turkmenistan.
The elections scheduled for March 26th will be an important step towards democratic transformations and reforms launched in Turkmenistan at the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and carried out under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The success of these undertakings stimulated the accelerated development of the country, confidently moving towards new grandiose achievements along the path of progress and innovation.
In this context, the upcoming elections and the ongoing campaign for the nomination and registration of candidates are clear evidence of the irreversibility of democratic processes in the modern Turkmen state and society. Further development of these processes, which today are acquiring a qualitatively new content and content, is one of the main priorities of the policy of the President of Turkmenistan.
The forthcoming regular elections of deputies of the Mejlis, members of the velayat, etrap and city Halk Maslahaty, members of the Gengeshes are an event of exceptional importance for our country, designed to further strengthen the foundations of democracy and state sovereignty of the Motherland.
