The President of Turkmenistan received the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation

Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has received Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Co-Chairman of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation for the Russian part Alexei Overchuk, who arrived in Turkmenistan at the head of a representative delegation of his country.

Expressing gratitude for finding time for a meeting, the guest conveyed warm greetings to the head of state from President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, who sent their best wishes to all the Turkmen people. At the same time, Russia’s commitment to traditionally friendly, fruitful relations with Turkmenistan was confirmed.

Sending his greetings and best wishes to the leadership of the Russian Federation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that our country attaches great importance to strengthening the interstate dialogue, which has a strategic partnership nature. In this regard, the head of Turkmen state pointed out with satisfaction that the Turkmen-Russian cooperation, based on the principles of sincere friendship, equality and mutual respect, is successfully developing in all areas.

Further at the meeting, the current state and prospects of collaboration were discussed in the context of the implementation of the agreements reached and plans for the future. As was noted, the determining factor in deepening the Turkmen-Russian partnership is an open, constructive and trusting dialogue at the highest level. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation. All this time, cooperation between our countries has been dynamically developing both on bilateral and multilateral basis.

Relations between parliaments have also noticeably intensified. An important stage in their strengthening and enriching with new content was the recent official visit of Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Russian Federation.

Particular attention during the meeting was paid to cooperation in the trade, economic, scientific and technical fields, which are characterized by effectiveness. It was highlighted that good dynamics in recent years has been demonstrated in mutual trade. The oil and gas sector, industry, transport and logistics, trade and a number of other industries were specified among the priority areas of partnership.

In this context, a special significance is attached to the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission, activities of which are aimed at realizing the existing potential of economic partnership and are designed to contribute to diversifying productive contacts in various fields, stimulating business and investment activity, and implementing new joint projects. Confidence was expressed that the bilateral meetings planned during the current visit of the Russian delegation to Ashgabat will provide an opportunity to discuss key aspects of further cooperation and outline its most promising areas.

Along with this, it was emphasized that the traditional humanitarian dialogue is an equally important area of interstate cooperation, where a special emphasis is placed on the established fruitful ties in the field of education, science and culture, as well as healthcare.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk expressed confidence that the mutually beneficial Turkmen-Russian partnership, based on long-standing ties of friendship, good neighborliness and solid long-term experience, would continue to develop successfully.
