Today, the capital’s Mekan Palace hosted festivities on the occasion of the Harvest Festival, widely celebrated throughout the country, embodying national pride for the results of the selfless work of daikhans, generous harvests grown on the fertile Turkmen land.
The day before, advanced tenants, machine operators, scientists, agronomists, breeders and other agricultural specialists making a worthy contribution to the development of the domestic agro-industrial complex were honored. In accordance with the Decree of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the leaders of the agricultural industry who achieved the highest indicators this year were awarded the “Watana bolan söýgüsi üçin” medal, as well as valuable gifts on behalf of the head of state.
This year, which is held under the motto “The Epoch of the People with Arkadag”, is marked by high achievements of farmers. The country has grown a rich cotton crop. Turkmen grain growers have won a remarkable labor victory by fulfilling the state order for the harvesting of food grain and handing over about 1,500 thousand tons of wheat to the bins of the Homeland. Producers of fruit and vegetable and melon products distinguished themselves by high indicators. On the eve of the holiday, cotton growers of Balkan velayat reported on the successful fulfillment of contractual obligations to collect “white gold”, and the daikhan of Dashoguz velayat reported on the collection of rice.
Since the beginning of the year, the growth rate of production volumes in the agro-industrial complex compared to the same period of the last year amounted to 103.8 percent. The implementation of the plan for growing vegetables amounted to 118 percent, melons – 110.1 percent, bread and bread products – 105.3 percent.
This season, domestic silkworms have successfully coped with their contractual obligations for harvesting silkworm cocoons, yielding over 2,300 tons of valuable raw materials for the textile industry to the state.
...In honor of the Harvest Festival, various thematic conferences have been organized in all corners of the country, exhibitions and fairs have been launched demonstrating the generosity of the native land. Traditionally, the Turkmen capital became the epicenter of the celebrations, where representatives of advanced farms came from all regions.
The participants of the festive events that unfolded on the square near the Mekan Palace were the Chairwoman of the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh, Deputy Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of ministries and departments, the khyakim of Ashgabat city, representatives of public organizations and mass media, elders, entrepreneurs, as well as ambassadors of foreign states accredited in Turkmenistan.
An important event of the holiday was the presentation of a graceful Akhal-Teke horse named Ganatli, which was presented as a gift to the President of Turkmenistan on behalf of employees of the agro-industrial complex. The magnificent two-year-old horse is a descendant of Melegush and Durmush and belongs to the line of the famous Akhal-Teke Garlavach.
An exhibition of achievements of the agro-industrial complex of the country has unfolded on the square next to the Mekan Palace. The exposition, prepared by representatives of relevant departments, demonstrates samples of products of cotton-growing and cotton-processing, grain-growing industries, animal husbandry, food and textile industries.
Under the arches of the conference hall of the Mekan Palace, the participants of the event were greeted by masters of art with inspired speeches. The concert program, performed by popular soloists and musical groups, featured melodies and songs for the glory of the beloved Homeland, which confidently entered a new era under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
In the afternoon, the celebrations continued in the conference hall of the administrative building of the Agricultural complex, where a scientific and practical conference “Achievements of the agricultural sector of the country in the era of the Revival of a new epoch of a powerful state and urgent tasks for the future” was held.
The forum was attended by specialists of industry departments, representatives of the Agrarian Party, economic companies and entrepreneurs, scientists and experts in the relevant field, students.
At the end of the forum, a thank-you address was adopted to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in which sincere gratitude was expressed for the constant attention and care for the workers of the agricultural sector and assurances that every effort will be made for its further development.
On the occasion of the Harvest Festival, solemn meetings and celebrations of leading farmers, as well as concerts, sports competitions and other cultural events were held in velayats and etraps, cities and villages of the country.
