Today, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who arrived in the Turkmen capital to participate in the VI Summit of the Heads of the Caspian States.

Expressing satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss topical issues of bilateral relations, including inter-parliamentary ones, in a personal conversation, the head of the friendly state, taking the opportunity, congratulated the Hero-Arkadag on his 65th birthday, wishing him good health, family well-being, as well as new successes and achievements in responsible activities for the benefit of Turkmenistan.

Thanking for the warm congratulations and good wishes, Hero-Arkadag expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani leader for his great personal contribution to building up the interstate dialogue, as well as for the fruitful joint work over the years for the benefit of strengthening cooperation between the two states.

As it was emphasized, our countries have long been united by friendly relations, which is due to the historical, cultural and spiritual commonality of the two peoples that has developed over the centuries, and in the modern epoch these contacts are acquiring a new quality and content. Noting the great potential for expanding inter-parliamentary relations, as well as the exchange of experience through mutual consultations, the interlocutors expressed confidence that the established constructive dialogue between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan would continue to develop steadily on a long-term and mutually beneficial basis.
