Today, on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, a scientific meeting “Objects of the national historical and cultural heritage of the Dashoguz velayat in the system of international tourism” was held in the northern region of the country, which was attended by heads and representatives of relevant ministries and departments, as well as foreign specialists via digital communication.
In accordance with the "State Program for 2022-2028 for careful preservation of objects of national historical and cultural heritage, their protection and study, attraction of tourists ", special attention is paid to carrying out comprehensive work in this direction, including popularizing the contribution of the Turkmen people to the formation world culture, which is the most important priority of the policy pursued by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The current event is another clear evidence of the ever-growing authority of neutral Turkmenistan in the world community, under the leadership of the head of state, actively building up a constructive dialogue with interested countries of the world and major international organizations, with specialized UN agencies, primarily with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ( UNESCO).
Over the years of cooperation with this authoritative structure, a number of unique monuments located in Turkmenistan have been selected and then included in the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage List. Among them are Ancient Merv, Kunyaurgench, Parthian fortresses of Nisa.
It is known that 125 historical and archaeological sites have been registered on the territory of the Dashoguz velayat, which are being studied and restored by Turkmen scientists together with foreign colleagues, artifacts found by archaeologists are displayed in museums.
So, at the monument "Kervensaray", located in the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Kunyaurgench", archaeological excavations, conservation and restoration work are being carried out, appropriate measures are being taken to attract tourists and create conditions for pilgrims.
It should be noted that the first week of archaeological research that began here has already been marked by the discovery of interesting artifacts - fragments of architectural decoration in the form of carved terracotta tiles. These finds, the technology and time of their manufacture, as well as the work on their restoration and museumification became one of the topics of the scientific discussion of specialists.
In Kunyaurgench, systematic research, conservation and restoration of the architectural heritage is also carried out. The reserve staff restored the most significant and most visited shrines: the mausoleums of Nejmeddin Kubra, Sultan Ali, Piryar Veli, Tyurabek Khanym, the tombs of the Khorezmshahs Tekesh and Il-Arslan, the mausoleum of Seyit Ahmed and the minaret of Kutlug-Timur. The ruins of the earliest fortress of Kunyaurgench, known as Kyrkmolla, the former cathedral mosque with the remains of the al-Mamun minaret, have been conserved, and the madrassah of Ibn Khajib has been restored.
Another group of participants of the scientific meeting visited the monuments of the Gyorogly etrap - the settlement of Izmykshir and the medieval architectural complex of Ismamut-ata, well-known not only in our country, but also far beyond its borders.
During the field seminars, which were attended by archaeologists, architectural historians, restorers, representatives of the tourism industry, as well as specialists from the State Historical and Cultural Reserves of the country, a wide exchange of views took place on the issues on the agenda of the forum and experience in this area.
During the meeting, speeches by foreign experts were organized via video link, the main topics of which were ensuring the careful preservation and popularization of the country's historical and cultural monuments, the main directions and opportunities for the development of tourism in Turkmenistan, the intensification of the development of cooperation with UNESCO in the scientific and educational field, in the field of culture and conservation unique architectural objects of the past, as well as in the area of ecology.
During the excursions, the forum participants were given the opportunity to visit the excavations where archaeological research was carried out on the ancient architectural monuments of Kunyaurgench located along the Great Silk Road. Serving as a unique link between Europe, Asia, India and China, this legendary route played a huge role in the development of human civilization. And today, the revival in a new quality of the Great Silk Road, the "heart" of which is Turkmenistan, serves as a powerful impetus for the rapprochement of peoples and countries, contributes to the strengthening of political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian interstate ties.
At the end of the forum, the participants adopted a thank-you Address to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in which, expressing sincere gratitude for creating optimal conditions for the successful holding of the current meeting, constructive interaction and a fruitful exchange of views, they assured the head of state that they would apply all their abilities and knowledge for further in-depth study and popularization of monuments of history and culture of our country in the world.
