On November 4, the VI Turkmen-German Medical Forum was launched in a conference hall of the luxury hotel “Yildiz”. It is intended to become the next important step towards intensifying constructive partnership in the health sector that has been established in recent years between the two friendly countries. A delegation including representatives of the German Federal Ministry of Health, experts of the largest high-tech medical equipment developing companies, as well as a number of well-known scientists and professors of the leading clinics from various cities of the FRG arrived in the Turkmen capital. The Turkmen part was represented in the two-day forum by the leaders and specialists of state agencies, scientific and clinical centers, treatment at a health resorts, and the faculty of State Medical University. Welcoming the forum participants, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany in our country, Ms Margaret Mary Jubber commended the prospects of further deepening of an interstate dialogue in view of Turkmenistan’s commitment to comprehensive development of the national healthcare system, including by means of introducing the latest technological advances of the world medicine. The fact of holding the scientific medical forum on a regular basis demonstrates the importance of this sector in modern Turkmenistan’s development process. The positive experience gained by Turkmenistan in the field of improving the national healthcare system has been widely recognized by the international community and major international organizations, including the United Nations and its major agencies such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the UN International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and others, with which our country has been actively and fruitfully cooperating over the years of state independence. During the forum a constructive exchange of views took place on the progress made in various healthcare areas, in particular, researches and the application of effective methods for treatment of diabetes, cancer in children and adults, as well as the existing know-how in the fields of endocrinology and physiotherapy. Most reports were about the concrete progress in implementing the state policy of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov in the healthcare system, which promotes the strengthening of material-technical base of this sector, the improvement of medical services provided to the population, and placing into operation the new pharmaceutical enterprises. As was highlighted in the reports, now the Turkmen health sector is adopting the innovative treatment methods, technologies and equipment. Modern scientific-clinical centers and treatment-preventive facilities are being built. They are equipped with the latest technology, with a considerable part of the equipment made in Germany which is the leading country in this field. Speaking of the desire to step up and expand the scope of many years-long fruitful cooperation, the guests noted that as one of the world leaders in the field of advanced technology, Germany is ready to share expertise and the latest scientific and industrial products, which is particularly important in the context of modernizing Turkmenistan’s healthcare system and its active transition to an innovative course of development. Meetings were held in the forum’s framework between representatives of the German Federal Ministry of Health and the Rector, professors and interns of the State Medical University of our country.
