Today, as part of preparations for the upcoming presidential elections, a meeting of the Central Commission for holding elections and referendums in Turkmenistan was held in the capital, which was attended by the head and members of the CEC, the chairman of the Democratic Party of the country. The main issue on the agenda was the registration of the candidate nominated by the Democratic Party for the post of President of Turkmenistan.

Today, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived at the Central Election Commission, has been registered as a candidate for the highest state post. As already reported, his candidacy for the post of President of Turkmenistan was unanimously approved and nominated by the participants of the extraordinary, IX Congress of the Democratic Party, which, along with the delegates, was attended by representatives of public organizations and the media.

To Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Serdar Berdimuhamedov, registered as a candidate for the post of President of Turkmenistan, was presented with a corresponding certificate.

Also today in Ashgabat, in the building of the Agricultural Complex, an extraordinary, IV congress of the Agrarian Party of the country was held, the agenda of which included the issue of nominating a candidate for the post of President of Turkmenistan. The forum was also attended by representatives of public organizations, the media, etc.

In the course of an interested exchange of views, the participants of the congress considered the proposal to nominate Agajan Bekmyradov, Deputy Hyakim of the Mary Velayat, as a candidate for the highest state post.

The speakers noted the leadership and organizational skills of A.Bekmyradov, his professional and personal qualities worthy of respect.

After graduating from the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction in 1995, Agajan Bekmyradov acquired the profession of civil engineer. Over the years, he worked in the etrap khyakimliks of the Mary velayat, in the Vekilbazar etrap council of the Youth Organization of Turkmenistan named after Magtymguly, and in the association of prof-unions of this etrap. Since April 2017, A.Bekmyradov holds the post of the Deputy Hyakim of the Mary.

Based on the foregoing, the congress participants decided to nominate him as a candidate for the highest state post.

Upon completion of the speeches and the voting procedure, the relevant Resolution was unanimously adopted.

In his turn, A.Bekmyradov said that he was aware of the high responsibility entrusted to him and would make every effort to justify the trust placed in him.

In this context, we remind that by the Resolution of the Mejlis of Milli Gengesh, in accordance with Article 81 of the Constitution of Turkmenistan, Article 86 of the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, concerning the holding of early elections, the presidential elections in our country are scheduled for March 12, 2022.

The Central Commission for Elections and Referendums announced the start of the election campaign on February 14 this year. The main criteria of this important socio-political campaign, as well as all previous similar actions, are openness, democracy and a broad alternative basis.

According to national legislation and international practice, all candidates are given equal rights and opportunities to meet with voters and familiarize them with election programs, conduct campaigning, including through the media.

In this way, the upcoming elections of the President of Turkmenistan, undoubtedly, will once again clearly demonstrate the indestructible unity and cohesion of the Turkmen people, the invariable commitment of our state and society to the principles of true democracy, rooted in the depths of the history of the nation and now received a worthy continuation.
