Priorities for international cooperation in road construction have been identified

On October 20, the 38th meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of Roads and the International Federation of Transport and Road Construction Workers’ Unions was held in a conference hall of the “Ýyldyz” Hotel. The forum was attended by heads of ministries and road administrations of the CIS countries, representatives of international organizations, associated members of the Council, local and foreign specialists of branch departments as well as experts working in the field. The aim of the Council is to coordinate the work in design, construction and reconstruction of roads at the international level, to ensure the technological integration of road networks and balanced development of road infrastructure. The meeting agenda included issues related to the development of common road maintenance standards and integrated system of mutual payments, introduction of new technologies and road-building materials into the sector, and many others. During the meeting, speaking of the development of road infrastructure, Turkmen specialists noted that formerly a new road construction and reconstruction projects had never been implemented at such a quick pace and on such a wide scale. The projects also envisage the replacement of utility lines, adoption of modern road safety systems, installation of electronic information signs, LED displays, and others. The 38th meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of Roads also discussed issues of occupational safety and health regulations in road construction, training of specialists, the use of new technologies, building materials, machinery and equipment in the sector, etc.
