A telephone talk took place today between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Warmly greeting his colleague, the Turkmen leader cordially congratulated the head of the neighboring country on his election to the post of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, wishing sound health for many years, prosperity and great success in responsible activities at the highest state post.

As the nation’s leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted, the fruitful activity of Shavkat Mirziyoyev as President of Uzbekistan, his considerable political experience and professionalism have earned great respect and high authority not only in the Republic, but also abroad. During the telephone conversation, the heads of state exchanged views on key areas of the Turkmen-Uzbek partnership, which is of a strategic nature and is built from the standpoint of mutual respect, taking into account the realities of modernity and the situation in the region and the world.

Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted the positive dynamics of the interstate dialogue in the context of the implementation of the agreements reached during the high-level talks held in the course of the official visit of the Head of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan on October 4-5 and allowed reaching new frontiers in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. The parties confirmed their interest in diversifying mutually beneficial relations, which have a huge, time-demanded potential.

In this regard, the importance of regular contacts at various levels was noted, including within the framework of the Intergovernmental Turkish-Uzbek Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation.

The leaders of the friendly states also spoke in favor of further development of contacts in the humanitarian sphere, in particular, for stimulating scientific, educational and cultural ties, cooperation in the field of sports and tourism.

At the end of the talk, the heads of the two countries expressed confidence that the relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, thanks to joint efforts, will continue to develop dynamically and deepen in the spirit of mutually beneficial cooperation, for the benefit of our states and their peoples.
