Today President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made an online speech at the 76^th session of General Assembly of the United Nations, which opened last week in the UN headquarters in New York.

It should be noted that in the current year actions take place both in online and offline formats that is caused by COVID-19 pandemic proceeding in the world. This week in the UN - week of general discussions of the regular session of General Assembly with participation of heads of states and governments.

The agenda of the 76^th session of the Un General Assembly is a wide range of issues, the international relations mentioning practically all vectors. Among the main subjects - providing peace and security on the planet, counteraction to global challenges and threats of the present, achievement of goals of sustainable development, ecology and others. The subject of special attention is control of the pandemic and overcoming its consequences by means of development of effective multilateral mechanisms.

In his speech President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov mentioned priority positions and concrete initiative of Turkmenistan, the main objectives of which are consolidation of efforts for search of the most acceptable decisions on urgent problems of the present, and also optimization of productive interaction for universal peace, wellbeing and progress.

Having welcomed the UN Secretary General and participants of the global forum, the leader of the nation, first of all, congratulated Mr. Abdulla Shahid on election to the post of the Chairman of the 76^th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations and, having wished success at this responsible post, assured that Turkmenistan will render him every possible assistance and support.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also expressed sincere gratitude to Mr. Volkan Bozkir for his skilful and effective work as the Chairman of the 75^th session of UN General Assembly.

Addressing participants of the session, the head of Turkmenistan noted that the present condition of universal realities, character and tendencies of political, economic, social processes objectively demand closer and coordinated interaction of states and the largest international organizations for achievement of the common main goal - providing peace and security at the global scale, conditions for further development and progress, preservation of the legal and institutional foundation laid in the base of modern world order.

- The degree of efficiency of such interaction will be defined in many respects by whether the common denominator between national interests and the global purposes and priorities will be able to be found, - President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized. - Whether members of the world community will have sufficient responsibility, foresight, political will to overcome disagreements, tactical divergences and distinctions in approaches and estimates to concentrate on achievement of strategic, long-term problems of development, the solution of acute universal issues - ecological, energy, food, issues of equitable distribution of water resources, overcoming poverty, protection against natural disasters, counteraction to terrorism, drugs threat, other calls.

In the context of minimization of negative economic consequences of the pandemic, it was noted that Turkmenistan considers necessary to strengthen activities of the UN for the separate directions. In particular, it was noted that it is necessary to work actively on restoration and strengthening of stability of the international transport systems in the conditions of emergency situations. For this purpose there is a good basis - the Resolution of the United Nations General Assembly "Strengthening of ties between all modes of transport for ensuring stable and reliable international transport for sustainable development during and after the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19)", accepted at the initiative of our country on July 29, 2021.

In these conditions Turkmenistan as the responsible member of the world community, will continue to render consistently assistance to the solution of international issues only by peaceful, political and diplomatic means, on the basis of norms and the principles of the Charter of the UN, fundamental Conventions and other international acts, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated.

It is known that the leader of the nation told, the United Nations General Assembly announced this year as International year of peace and trust. Being an initiator of this decision, our country carried out big international work for strengthening of culture of the world and valid dialogue, elimination of the deficiency of trust, which arose at the present stage in the interstate relations. Finishing actions within the International year of peace and trust, Turkmenistan plans to convene in December of the current year in Ashgabat the International conference "Peace Policy and Trust — a Basis of International Security, Stability and Development", President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized, having invited member states of the UN and the international organizations to active participation in this forum.

Consideration and adoption of this document will promote practical realization of the international initiatives of Central Asian countries reflected in the final document of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia, which took place on August 6, 2021 in Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, expressed confidence.

Throughout his speech the head of state focused attention on the subject of Afghanistan to which the attention of the whole world is attached today because the difficult situation there, emerging extremely fragile institutes of power and society. At treatment and assessment of the situation in this country extreme carefulness, deliberateness, responsibility - both in words and in acts is required, the leader of the nation noted.

Turkmenistan, developing the relations with Afghanistan, always puts the principles of friendship and neighbourliness, and also a historical and cultural and civilization community of the people of two countries in their basis. Our country was and remains deeply interested in the political stability and security of Afghanistan, wellbeing and unity of the fraternal Afghan people, the leader of the nation said, having confirmed strong commitment of our state to solve contradictions by peaceful, political and diplomatic means.

Having stated that Turkmenistan supports the fastest normalization of the situation in Afghanistan, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov hoped that the formed state institutes would be able effectively to work for the good of and for the benefit of all Afghan people.

In return, Turkmenistan, as before, will provide to Afghanistan full economic support and humanitarian aid, the leader of the nation emphasized.

Speaking on the significance of Sustainable development goals, the leader of the nation emphasized that during the current session Turkmenistan counts on continuation of extensive dialogue on achievement of SDGs and considers that today effective interaction and practical compatibility of global, regional and national tools on their realization becomes the main priority.

Having touched upon the subject of the Aral Sea, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated that Turkmenistan will continue to give and draw unrelenting attention of the world community to issues of minimization of consequences of this environmental disaster. In particular, it was emphasized that during the forthcoming session our country together with partners in the region will try to achieve creation of the Special program of the UN for the basin of the Aral Sea.

As the member of the UN Commission for Social Development for 2021-2025 Turkmenistan intends to assist strengthening of its role as the principal coordinating organ on development of the coordinated approaches and actions in global issues of social protection, for youth, strengthening of the role of traditional family and other directions.

Having mentioned the migration policy among permanently important directions of bilateral partnership, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed readiness of the Turkmen state which is the permanent member of the Executive Committee of the Program of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and having wide experience in solution of difficult humanitarian situations of this kind to make a contribution to the solution of this global task.

- We state a strong commitment to cooperation with the UN, to active participation and assistance to its political and diplomatic efforts in preservation and consolidation of the developed architecture of global security, overcoming consequences of the pandemic, in implementation of plans and programs in economic, social, ecological, humanitarian, other spheres, - the leader of the nation noted.

In conclusion of his speech President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that for Turkmenistan partnership with the United Nations was and remains a strategic priority, the world outlook and practical base of all our activity on the international scene.

The speech of the head of state was listened to with great attention.

It should be noted that our country in the person of the leader confirmed commitment to constructive interaction in the format of the United Nations again, having shown far-sighted approaches to the solution of essential issues of the global agenda.

Important proposals of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which got full approval, and support of member states of the United Nations and constructive initiatives of intensification of productive international dialogue in key spheres, achievement of the goals of sustainable development in regional and global dimensions serve as a visual evidence of this and were fixed with special UN resolutions.
