I would like to offer my hearty congratulations to you on the official opening of the Culture Week in Lebap velayat and wish you good health, family wellbeing, creative inspiration and great success!

This year designated as ‘Turkmenistan: the Land of Peace and Trust’ and marked by remarkable events in honor of 30 years of the nation’s sacred independence, massive efforts are being made in our independent neutral country to achieve notable success and celebrate this milestone anniversary.

The sectors of the national economy have now seen impressive progress and rapid growth that will help to significantly improve the people’s living standards. Our state is heavily investing in the socio-economic development of the regions, the adoption of digital technologies in all sectors, construction of industrial complexes, social and cultural facilities, plants and factories, and job creation. This all stands as eloquent testimony to the successful realization of our underlying principle “The State – for Man!”

I am glad that the opening of the Culture Week in Lebap velayat is timed to coincide with the inauguration of newly built facilities. The opening ceremonies of a new airport with an hourly handling capacity of 100 passengers in the town of Kerki, a modern Türkmeniň Ak Öýi building and a 3,000-seat sadaqat venue in the city of Turkmenabat, and a ‘Children’s Paradise’ Cultural and Entertainment Center in Farap etrap will add significant substance to the Culture Week in Lebap velayat, and inspire the beloved people to achieve more progress through their laborious efforts for the benefit and prosperity of the much-loved native country.

Fruitful work is today being carried out to develop, alongside with the sectors of the economy, the cultural sphere, and to enrich Turkmen art and literature with new modern works. Improvements in this area help to uplift the spirit of patriotism in fellow citizens, to inspire them to work towards lofty goals, to foster greater cultural development of young people and advance their knowledge. Regularly organized in our country, Culture Weeks have an influential role to play in this.

Culture Weeks have become a noble tradition in our independent state. And the fact that Lebap velayat plays host to the event this year has special importance. With its impressive record of achievements in the epoch of power and happiness, the Lebap region is one of the ancient areas in our country that accumulates ample evidence relating to the glorious history of Turkmens and boasts prime examples of our national cultural heritage. Protecting, exploring, and preserving our nation’s treasures for generations yet to come and promoting them worldwide is the key task allocated to cultural workers.

Celebrated in classical and contemporary pieces of literature, the majestic beauty of the Ancient Jeikhun, the spectacular natural wonders of the Koitendag, the Fortresses of Amul, Hojaidat and Zohre-Tahir, the Dayakhatyn Caravanserai (roadside inn), and the historical monuments: Astanababa and Alamberdar are the region’s iconic landmarks.

In days of old, classical poets and thinkers lived and created in the area. Among them were Idrisbaba, Nyyazguly Halypa, Seiitnazar Seidi, Abdyrahym Zynhary, Allaguly Allahy, and Myrat Shahyr to name but a few.

Retained through the centuries, their rich literary legacy and fine works have great importance in nurturing modern youth in the spirit of patriotism, humanism and nobility. Today when the cultural legacy that our ancestors bequeathed to us is being explored thoroughly, our thinkers’ wise sayings and classical poets’ profound and meaningful poems are a hymn to Turkmen statehood.

The Culture Week in Lebap velayat will be a festive event that will considerably influence the future development and enhancement of Turkmen culture and art, and will enrich our literature with modern pieces.

Inspirational melodies and songs that will be performed at concerts during the Culture Week will be an ode to a happy life of our courageous people and the remarkable progress of our independent home country. Organized as part of the cultural event, exhibitions, creative meetings, conferences, and stage productions will reflect the rich diversity of Turkmen culture and its modern trends.
