Work for formation of new composition – re-election and nomination of new candidates to election commissions of regions and Ashgabat is carried out these days according to approved plan of the Central Election and Referendum Commission of Turkmenistan with regard to the expiry of terms of regional and Ashgabat election commissions.

Economic power of the Motherland is enhanced, the policy for strengthening of democratic principles and legal foundations of our state is successfully implemented owing to wide-scale changes and comprehensive reforms implemented under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the epoch of might and happiness.

Targeted practical measures are undertaken this year, which is held under slogan «Turkmenistan – Home of Peace and Trust», for improvement of national legislative base and electoral system.

In this regard, organized conduct of true democratic elections according to the Constitution of Turkmenistan, Electoral Code of Turkmenistan and standards of international law and based on the principles of transparency, publicity and competition is an important objective of election commission.

Active work for the formation of new composition of election commissions is carried out at present time due to expiry of 5-year term of regional and Ashgabat election commission, which were formed in June 2016, according to Electoral legislation and based on approved plan of the Central Election Commission. 

As is known, these structures are formed by the Central Election Commission in composition of 9 – 13 members, which elections are held taking into account multi-party system. According to Article 18 of Electoral Code, candidates for regional and capital election commissions are nominated at the sessions of regional, district and city bodies of political parties, public organizations as well as at the meetings of groups of the citizens.

Unlimited number of candidates to the composition of election commissions may be reviewed at the sessions and meetings, however only one representative can be nominated at each session and meeting to the composition of election commission of regions and Ashgabat city. 

People who understand goals and importance of the state policy pursued by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and familiar with electoral legislation, experienced specialists of different industries of any age are nominated to the composition of election commissions. These are highly respected people, who will provide high level of preparation and organization of election campaigns in the country, their compliance with existing national legislation according to their authorities. 

Therefore, new composition of election commissions of regions and Ashgabat will take active part in various elections in the next five years promoting strengthening of democratic foundations of Turkmen state and assertion of principles of true people’s power.
