President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated the citizens of Turkmen on the World Health Day, which is celebrated today.

“In the year “Turkmenistan is the Homeland of Peace and Trust”, the World Health Day is filled with important events that mark the triumph of peace and friendship, sport and humanism. Various events held in Ashgabat, velayat and etrap centers in honor of this international holiday increase the authority of independent neutral Turkmenistan.

“Socio-economic potential, cultural development of the state are tightly bound with the well-being of the people, the health of society, the harmonious physical and spiritual development of generations. Guided by this lofty goal, we implement large-scale reforms in all spheres of economy, science, education, health care, sports and culture. Providing decent social and living conditions for the people, creating beautiful settlements, modern industrial complexes, developing entrepreneurship, we systematically strengthen the position of our state in the world.

“We attach special importance to the development of physical culture and sports, the Olympic movement, we successfully implement the relevant national programmes, comprehensive transformations, continuing our people’s traditions, including upbringing of a physically strong and spiritually rich generation.

“Within a short time, we have built large sports, equestrian complexes, stadiums, sports schools, the Olympic Village that meet international requirements, and established a modern specialized infrastructure. Medical centers, specialized clinics, sanatoriums equipped with innovative technologies have been built in the capital of our country – Ashgabat and in velayats. Based on this, we have achieved great success in the formation of an advanced sports and recreation infrastructure that meets international standards.

“In order to create a perfect and highly effective health care system based on the latest technologies, modern medical science and practice, as well as to develop this area in accordance with international standards, providing comprehensive opportunities and conditions for protecting and strengthening the health of our citizens, we have recently adopted the State Programme “Health" in the new edition. Based on this programme, we will continue improving the health of the people, increasing their well-being, and extending the life expectancy of a person”, the President of Turkmenistan says in his congratulatory address.

According to the Turkmen leader, as a member of the International Olympic Committee, the Olympic Council of Asia, our sovereign state significantly contributes to the development of the international Olympic movement. 

“Using sports potential for the benefit of peace and friendship, Turkmenistan is building up cooperation with the world community. The V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, the Amul-Hazar 2018 International Rally, the World Weightlifting Championship demonstrated the colossal sports opportunities of our Motherland to the whole world.

“The high level of preparation for the World Track Cycling Championship and the stage of the International Davis Cup tennis tournament in Ashgabat also clearly demonstrate the international recognition of the effectiveness of our state policy for the development of sports. I am sure that these major sports events will become a great contribution to the development of the Olympic movement, strengthening peace, mutual understanding, friendship and brotherhood between peoples”, the President of Turkmenistan emphasizes in his address.
