Turkmen-Belarusian commission discusses economic cooperation

The Intergovernmental Turkmen-Belarusian Commission on Economic Cooperation held a videoconference meeting in Ashgabat on February 26. The heads and specialists of sectoral ministries and departments, as well as businessmen of the two states took part in the meeting.

Meeting participants exchanged views and mutual interest in enhancing business ties and mutually beneficial cooperation. Agro-industrial complex, mechanical engineering, textile and light industry, construction industry, transport and communication and a number of other industries were specified among the priority spheres for building up cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties discussed and outlined a number of specific steps aimed at diversifying partnership in the trade and economic sphere, and increasing the volume of mutual trade. In this context, it was underlined the importance to take additional measures to increase export-import operations and expand the range of supplied goods and services.

Meeting participants suggested to supply trucks and buses, agricultural machinery and elevator equipment manufactured in Belarus to Turkmenistan. 

Underlining the positive role of cultural and humanitarian contacts, the parties noted the importance of further developing cooperation in the field of education, culture, health care, sports and tourism.

The protocol was signed on the outcomes of the meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Belarusian Commission on Economic Cooperation.
