On February 17, the II Turkmen-Korean Health online Forum was held at the International Scientific and Training Center of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry. Leading Korean scientists, professors, leaders and representatives of Turkmen government agencies, as well as medical scientific and clinical centers in Ashgabat attended the forum.

Developing effective cooperation with WHO and other specialized UN agencies, authoritative international structures, our country comes up with specific initiatives aimed at building up regional and global cooperation in the scientific and medical field, consolidating efforts in solving urgent problems of our time.

Korean experts noted the intensive development of the healthcare sector in Turkmenistan, where a special role belongs to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, academician of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences. Meeting participants expressed gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for building up international cooperation in this area.

Meeting participants assessed the work done in this direction, the steps taken to provide the population with access to medical care in the context of countering COVID-19 and discussed preparedness for and response to emergencies, as well as post-pandemic recovery period.

It was emphasized that the large-scale educational work carried out in the country contributed to increasing awareness among the population about various diseases and measures to combat them. According to the encyclopedic work of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov "Medicinal plants of Turkmenistan", various teas, restorative drinks made from yuzarlik, thorns, juniper, wild rose, capsicum, and other medicinal plants are recommended for prophylactic purposes and to increase immunity. Modern medical science not only confirms their healing properties, but also studies the possibilities of their effective use.

In this context, it was stated that the Turkmen leader set new tasks for the national pharmaceutical industry - to provide the population with medicines and medical supplies to increase the effectiveness of measures taken in the fight against infectious and non-infectious diseases and for their prevention.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed issues of enhancing bilateral cooperation through scientific diplomacy and creating conditions for a regular exchange of views between medical scientists, experts and specialists.
