In accordance with the legislation, Turkmenistan continues work on the registration of vaccines for the prevention of viral diseases, on the instruction of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, negotiations are held with foreign manufacturers.
In particular, according to the results of an expert analysis, the Center for Registration of Medicines and State Quality Control under the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan issued a Certificate of Registration for the second Russian vaccine, EpiVacCorona.
The vaccine was developed at the Federal State-Funded Institution – the State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology “VECTOR” of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing.
After the issuance of a registration certificate for a vaccine, the purchase and use of this vaccine in our country is authorized.
The new vaccine - "EpiVacCorona" - has passed all tests and proven the highest degree of safety. At the same time, the efficiency of EpiVacCorona was 100 percent.
In comparison with Sputnik V, EpiVacCorona is a peptide-based vaccine. In this case, a different mechanism of action is implemented: the drug consists of artificially synthesized short fragments of coronavirus proteins-peptides, through which the immune system learns, and then itself recognizes and neutralizes the virus.
Turkmenistan is the first country in the world to register the EpiVacCorona vaccine after the Russian Federation, and the first country in Central Asia to officially approve the use of Sputnik V vaccine on its territory, and ranks among the top ten countries that registered it.
Disease prevention is a key vector of the Saglyk State Programme developed under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Immunoprophylactic work is carried out in our country on a systematic basis. At present, 13 vaccines against 14 diseases are vaccinated free of charge in Turkmenistan.
The registration of a new vaccine has become another step in the fight against infectious diseases and strengthening the scientific and medical multilateral cooperation, the development of which the Turkmen leader pays great attention to, putting forward international initiatives in this area, maintaining active cooperation with specialized UN agencies, including the World Health Organization.
Turkmenistan highly evaluates the experience of other countries that have already created a solid base in the fight against the new threat and share valuable experience in overcoming the negative consequences of the pandemic. Our state is also ready to share its successful developments in order to achieve the maximum degree of effectiveness of joint efforts with other countries and international organizations.
Concern about the health and well-being of the people is a priority of the policy pursued by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. This concern is based on an exceptionally responsible and comprehensive approach to solving problems of disease prevention, programmes and projects of universal immunization of the population, the development of a mass physical culture and sports movement and the popularization of the principles of a healthy lifestyle.
