President of Turkmenistan has telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Malaysia

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Malaysia Muhyiddin Yassin. Warmly greeting each other, the Turkmen leader and the head of the Malaysian Government expressed satisfaction with the high level of bilateral relations, initially built on the principles of mutual respect, understanding and trust. Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin for the attention paid to strengthening the traditionally friendly interstate dialogue, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that Malaysia ranked among the key partners of Turkmenistan in the Asia-Pacific region. It was noted that our countries effectively interacted both in a bilateral and multilateral format, within the framework of the United Nations and other authoritative international structures. Further intensification of trade and economic ties was identified as one of the main directions of Turkmen-Malaysian cooperation. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took as an example of the interaction cooperation in the oil and gas sector, in particular with the long-standing and reliable partner of Turkmenistan PETRONAS National Oil Company of Malaysia. At the same time, during the telephone conversation, it was stated that in addition to the fuel and energy complex, there are many other promising areas for mutually beneficial economic partnership, building up business contacts, and implementing long-term investment projects. There are also good opportunities for cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies and digitalization of the economy, the introduction of advanced scientific developments in production. Humanitarian contacts stand as an integral part of the Turkmen-Malaysian relations. A great experience has been accumulated in this sphere and there is a solid potential for deepening fruitful cooperation in the field of education, science and culture, as well as in the field of healthcare. Exchanging views on a number of important issues of regional and global agenda, the parties focused on the coronavirus pandemic. In this regard, the importance of consolidating efforts as the most important factor to counter this dangerous threat was emphasized. At the end of the telephone conversation, confirming the commitment of Turkmenistan and Malaysia to the further comprehensive development of constructive cooperation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin exchanged best wishes for each other and the peoples of Turkmenistan and Malaysia.
