Turkmenistan-India: cooperation in the interest of friendly peoples

Priorities of bilateral cooperation, including the development of inter-parliamentary ties in the context of recent telephone conversation between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of India Ram Nath Kovind were discussed at the meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Turkmenistan Vidhu Peethambaran Nair held at the Mejlis. The meeting participants exchanged views on key aspects of interstate relations, strengthening of which is facilitated by the established trusting dialogue at the highest level. In particular, during the telephone conversation, the leaders of Turkmenistan and India stated that there was a solid potential for diversifying economic cooperation, including taking into account the course towards industrialization taken by our country. For its part, Turkmenistan is ready to provide Indian companies with the necessary support in the implementation of investment projects and invites them to consider the possibility of creating joint high-tech industries in such areas as agriculture, chemical, pharmaceutical, light industry, production of building materials based on local raw materials. Confirming the willingness to intensify constructive Turkmen-Indian cooperation, the diplomat underlined that India supports the foreign policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the international initiatives put forward by the Turkmen leader, especially emphasizing the significance the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality for the world community. The Ambassador of the friendly state was familiarized with the structure and activities of the supreme legislative body of our country. As noted, at present, the solid legislative and legal basis has been created, taking into account the generally recognized norms of international law, which are integrated into the national legislation. The work carried out, along with accession to the most important conventions of the United Nations, comprehensively contributes to the effective integration of the country into the international legal space. The implementation of the constructive foreign policy of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also contributes to strengthening and expanding inter-parliamentary ties. In this context, it was emphasized the necessity to share experience in lawmaking, hold regular consultations and meetings, contributing to the intensification of multifaceted interstate cooperation.
