Deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan discussed the draft Constitutional Law ""On Amendments to the Constitution of Turkmenistan"" during the 11th meeting of the Mejlis of the sixth convocation held in frames of the Halk Maslahaty meeting. The participants paid special attention to the establishment of the National Council of Turkmenistan and the forthcoming transition of the country's legislative body to a bicameral system. In this regard, the issues related to the introduction of relevant amendments and additions to the current laws of Turkmenistan were also raised. The draft Constitutional Law ""On Amendments to the Constitution of Turkmenistan"" submitted to the next meeting of the Mejlis of the fifth convocation was unanimously approved and adopted. Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan G. Mammedova announced the decision on the draft Constitutional Law. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Constitutional Law ""On Amendments to the Constitution of Turkmenistan"". “The adoption of the Constitutional Law of Turkmenistan on the eve of the 29th anniversary of independence, symbolizing the unity of society and the state, is a grandiose historical event that will be inscribed in the chronicle of our people”, underlined the President of Turkmenistan. The Constitutional Law of Turkmenistan ""On Amendments to the Constitution of Turkmenistan"" comes into force on January 1, 2021. In this regard, the work of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan is terminated. The President of Turkmenistan signed the Resolution ""On revocation of the 1st order of the Chairperson of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan dated September 25, 2018"". “Adopting the Constitutional Law of Turkmenistan ""On Amendments to the Constitution of Turkmenistan"", we have created a bicameral structure of the country's legislative body”, said the President of Turkmenistan. According to the Constitutional Law, the first elections of the members to the chamber of the Halk Maslahaty National Council of Turkmenistan are appointed by the President of Turkmenistan. In this regard, the President of Turkmenistan signed the Decree of the Halk Maslahaty on the appointment of the first election of members to the chamber of the Halk Maslahaty National Council of Turkmenistan, as well as the organizational work to establish the activities of this structure. Moreover, the Turkmen leader signed the Decree ""On strengthening the social security of healthcare workers"".
