President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani. Cordially greeting each other, the heads of friendly neighboring states congratulated each other on the coming holiday – Kurban Bayramy (Eid Al Adha), and addressed the wishes of happiness and prosperity to the peoples of the two countries. Emphasizing that this sacred holiday personifies the triumph of such lofty ideals as humanism, generosity and charity, the Turkmen leader wished peace, harmony and stability to the Muslim community (ummah) and all mankind. As emphasized, the development of relations based on friendship and mutual respect with the states of the world, first of all, with the closest neighbors, was one of the priority directions of Turkmenistan's foreign policy. Noting that good relations between the peoples of Turkmenistan and Iran have centuries-old common historical and cultural roots, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed satisfaction with successful development of political, economic and humanitarian ties between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran based on the principles of equality and mutual respect. It was also underlined the high level of partnership between the two countries within the framework of authoritative organizations, in particular, the UN and its agencies. Particular attention was paid to the coronavirus pandemic, the rapid spread of which on a global scale has a negative impact on all aspects of international relations. According to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, our country fully supports the efforts made by the world community in the fight against COVID-19, and considers it necessary to develop coordinated steps to successfully counter this threat. The President of Turkmenistan emphasized that only due to the joint efforts of all countries the good results could be achieved. Thanking the IRI President for the special attention given to bilateral relations, the President of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that mutually beneficial cooperation would continue strengthening in the interests of the fraternal neighboring peoples. At the end of the telephone conversation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Hassan Rouhani once again cordially congratulated each other on the holy holiday, wishing the peoples of Iran and Turkmenistan peace, happiness and prosperity.
