Central Asia is one of the environmentally sensitive regions of the world. One of the main reasons for this is the problem of the Aral Sea. Air masses that form in the Aral Sea zone and spread over a vast geographical area have a negative impact on nature and climate and jeopardise the health of people living not only in this region, but also outside it. Putting forward the initiative on creating the UN Special Program for the Aral Sea Basin, Turkmenistan takes concrete steps to develop this initiative. Speaking about the importance of coordinated efforts in order to eliminate the consequences of this environmental disaster, the President of Turkmenistan expressed the willingness to establish regular contacts between medical scientists, environmentalists and other specialists of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan in the near future.
