President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed congratulation on occasion of Turkmen Carpet Day, which is traditionally observed on last Sunday of May in the country, to carpet industry personnel, participants of fair exhibition dedicated to development of carpet, textile and trade industry of Turkmenistan and XX Conference of the World Turkmen Carpet Connoisseur Association. “Let me extend my congratulations on Turkmen Carpet Day and start of exhibition fair dedicated to development of carpet, textile and trade industries of Turkmenistan and XX Conference of the World Turkmen Carpet Connoisseur Association! Beautiful Turkmen carpets, which impress with its filigree and colour gamma, are samples of beauty, which improved treasury of human civilization. It was decided to include Turkmen national carpet art to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Human Heritage List at the 41st session of Intergovernmental Committee for protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in Bogota, the capital of the Republic of Columbia on December 12, 2019. This is a visual indication of recognition of our carpets as priceless sample of people’s art by the wold community. The carpets, which impress with their magnificence, refinement, colours and harmony, contain spiritual and historical experience of Turkmen nation. Carpet patterns on the state symbols of the country are the signs of our loyalty to advices of the ancestors and follow up of national traditions. Special attention is paid to development of national carpet art, which gained the glory all around the world, in modern times. fruitful work is carried out for its popularization and improvement. Organization of large-scale exhibition fair dedicated to development of carpet, textile and trade industries of Turkmenistan on Turkmen Carpet Day has special meaning. Merit of merchants, who were engaged in caravan trade along the routes of the Silk Road, is great in popularization of our artistic carpets and improvement of their glory. Today, ancient road is restored in new format and is embodied in development of multilateral trade and economic cooperation based on principles of friendship and fraternity. Facilities of textile industry, which is one of the leading and dynamically developing industry of national economy, provided with advanced technologies will also present their achievements, advanced practice, wide range of items including seasonal collection of clothes. The country carries out large-scale work for satisfaction of local demand in eco-friendly national production, which is distinguished with quality and competiveness, improvement of export potential of the industry and this activity will be continued. I am confident that the Conference of the World Turkmen Carpet Connoisseurs Association, which has become a good tradition and held this year for twenty times, will support to reflect success achieved in carpet industry of the country, interested exchange of opinions and activation of cooperation”, - the message of the Head of the State says.
