Invariably adhering to the principles of friendship and good neighborly relations, our country practically makes a significant contribution to development of Afghanistan’s socio-economic infrastructure, restoration of peaceful life in the country. By rendering constant support to the people of the neighboring country, Turkmenistan confirms its commitment to further development of the traditional relations for the benefit of the entire region. As noted, over recent years our country has been participating in peaceful restoration of Afghanistan, positively facilitating its socio-economic uplift. As the nearest neighbor, Turkmenistan carries out a number of projects in the frames of the bilateral agreements in force, including supplies of electric energy and liquefied gas to the Afghan people on easy terms. Implementation of the TAPI project only is predicted to make it possible for Afghanistan to create jobs for 12, 000 people and to secure a profit estimated at US $1 billion. Upon completion of construction of the power stations and other facilities in Lebap and Mary velayats, Turkmenistan will be able to increase the capacity of electric energy delivered to the neighboring country on easy terms up to 500 megawatts. In the near future, new power transmission lines as well as a number of social-purpose facilities including a maternity hospital, a mosque, an orphanage and others are planned for construction in the frontier provinces of Afghanistan.
