Last week, the Office of the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan (NRCST) hosted presentation of the collection of international treaties on the humanitarian rights - the Geneva Conventions and Additional Protocols to them, translated into the Turkmen language. The campaign was organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and NRCST under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The presentation was attended by members of the Interdepartmental Commission on ensuring implementation of Turkmenistan’s international commitments in the sphere of human rights and international humanitarian law, Deputies of Mejlis, representatives of ministries and departments concerned, public organizations and higher education institutions of our country, and mass media. As a member of the Interdepartmental Commission on ensuring implementation of Turkmenistan’s international commitments in the sphere of human rights and international humanitarian law, the NRCST defines dissimination of knowledge in this field as an important direction of its work. The current presentation of the package of international agreements in the sphere of international humanitarian law published in the Turkmen language is a primary example of it. The translation was prepared by the joint efforts of the withn-said Interdepartmental Commission, ICRC and NRCST in accordance with the “Plan of Cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the International Committee of the Red Cross in 2015”. During the meeting, a video about the activities of the International Committee of the Red Cross was shown to attendees.
