On May 1, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov received Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey Taner Yıldız, who had arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the quadrilateral meeting, devoted to the topical issues of cooperation in the energy sector, and prospects for the implementation of new infrastructure projects. During the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and his guest exchanged views on the prospects of Turkmen-Turkish cooperation, having given special consideration to the possibilities of developing productive interaction in such a strategic area as the energy sector. In this regard, the issues, placed on the agenda of the Ashgabat meeting with participation of representatives of Turkmenistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan and the European Commission, were given careful consideration. President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has noted that Turkmenistan is taking specific, successive steps in this direction. Initiating and implementing major projects in the fuel and energy complex, Turkmenistan is always open for equal and mutually beneficial cooperation with foreign partners; the quadrilateral talks in Ashgabat serves as a striking illustration of this. Having confirmed Turkey’s keen interest in advancing interaction with Turkmenistan in the fuel-energy sphere, including by implementing internationally important new infrastructure projects, the guest congratulated the head of state on the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality, and the launch of the first national communications satellite –“TürkmenÄlem 52°E”. At the end of the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey Taner Yıldız expressed their confidence that the Turkmen-Turkish relationship would successfully develop for the benefit of the two countries.
