On May 1, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov received Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Natig Agaami ogly Aliyev, who had arrived in Ashgabat to take part in a quadrilateral meeting on cooperation in the strategic oil and gas sector. Appreciative of the hearty welcome, the guest conveyed the words of greetings to the head of state from President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. As noted, over recent years the international community has been following with great attention the implementation progress of the Turkmen leader’s innovative ideas and initiatives aimed to consolidate global security and create favorable conditions for sustainable development of all the states on the planet. President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov passed on his best regards to the President and the people of friendly Azerbaijan. Having extended congratulations on the successful launch of the first national artificial communications satellite “TürkmenÄlem 52°E”, as well as the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality to be celebrated in this year’s December, the guest has emphasized that the people in Azerbaijan are sincerely glad for the achievements of the brotherly Turkmen people, who are steadily following the path of progress and prosperity under the guidance of the leader of nation. As known, developing the by-now established constructive dialogue year after year, the two neighboring countries continue to consolidate their efforts in tackling topical present-day problems, giving particular attention to the issues of universal security, including energy security. During the meeting, the head of state and the Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan discussed the possibilities for expanding a scope of traditional partnership in the strategic fuel and energy sector, including by carrying out new joint projects for transit gas pipelines, in particular, in the field of natural gas deliveries from the Caspian Sea Region to Europe. The guest expressed confidence that the policy pursued by Turkmenistan and aimed at diversification of natural gas delivery routes and creation of necessary conditions for safe and reliable transit of energy resources to the world markets, including the Eurasian continent, would contribute directly to solving the global energy security issue. Concluding the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan have stressed that the two countries, which are bound by the age-old good neighborly relations, intend to maintain close cooperation in different fields, including offshore oil and gas exploration.
