On April 29, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov took part in the opening of a new complex of buildings of the Printing House. The new facility of the printing industry, constructed in accordance with the Resolution of the head of state in the northern part of the Turkmen capital, is a striking illustration of how much consideration is given by the nation’s leader to the development of this important sector. The advances in science and technology make it possible to steadily improve printing technologies in accordance with needs of the market. The new complex of buildings of the Printing House, built to develop the printing industry, increase the circulation of newspapers, magazines and books, improve the quality of publications, as well as to offer a wider range of services, serves as an eloquent example. The new complex was constructed against the order of the State Publishing Service of Turkmenistan by the consortium of companies – “EREGE Inşaat Taahhýut Sanaýi we Tijaret LTD Şti” (Turkey) and “Heidelberger Druckmaschinen Eastern Europe Gmbh” (the Republic of Austria). Last year, a 12-story residential building with improved accommodation was constructed for employees of the industry; the construction of a similar building is well under way. And now, the complex tooled with the most advanced equipment, which has everything necessary for work and professional growth of specialists, is at their disposal. The square in front of the building was festively and colorfully decorated. Here, the nation’s leader was welcomed by Chairperson of the Mejlis, Cabinet Deputies Chairman, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and agencies, the khyakimliks of Ashgabat, public organizations and the mass media, foreign embassies, and international organizations accredited to Turkmenistan, elders, cultural workers, young people. Among the ceremony participants were specialists and the staff of the Printing House, who would work in this modern, complex equipped with the latest facilities. The head of state started his get-acquainted tour with facilities of the Printing House, its equipment, and the conditions created for the staff. The complex covers the area of 8 hectares. It includes a four-story building of the Turkmen State Publishing Service, the Printing Center, the “Çaphanahyzmatlary” State Enterprise, the “Türkmenmetbugatyupjunçilik” Enterprise, a conference hall, a canteen, parking garages, a sports ground, other premises. The President-authored books, such as “Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan”, “Döwlet guşy”, “Bilim – bagtyýarlyk, ruhubelentlik, rowaçlyk”, a collection of statements of the nation’s leader Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov –“Everburning light in the crown of the soul”, books dedicated to the national cultural heritage and many other works about modern Turkmenistan, are on display as well. Archival samples of newspapers and magazines, published in Turkmenistan, various books, the works created by the talent of Myalikguly Berdymuhamedov and Berdymuhamed Annaev, who are highly respected by the Turkmen people, occupy a prominent place in the museum collection. Among the exhibits are also perfectly published works by outstanding Turkmen scientists and thinkers, classical works of the Turkmen and world literature, colorfully designed albums and calendars, advertising and souvenir products. After becoming acquainted with the collection of the Museum of Publishing Business, the President of Turkmenistan proceeded to a computer department, where issues of “Turkmenistan” and “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspapers were in preparation. The application of modern computer technologies enables to ensure highly automated production and well-coordinated work with publishers, to improve the quality of the products. Owing to the most advanced technologies, newspapers and magazines are to be issued in compliance with European standards. The format of periodicals will become smaller, but it will not affect the number of the published materials, and will provide an opportunity to save hundreds of tons of paper during the year. Having familiarized himself with the equipment of the department and wished success to the specialists, the head of state proceeded to the production building, which houses main production and storage facilities. The new enterprise has a production capacity of 3,180, 400, 000 color-prints. Thus, thanks to the use of new technologies the capacity of the complex will increase two and half times as much. The President of Turkmenistan proceeded to a paper cutting department to become acquainted with operational capabilities of the up-to-date equipment installed there, and peculiarities of the process. It should be noted that all equipment used in the production of printed products meets ecological standards and medical requirements specified for the industry. In particular, it is noted for its low noise. All production premises meet the norms specified for the installation of equipment; the floors are covered with antistatic paint, protecting from dust. A specialist demonstrated the head of state capabilities of the modern equipment, which allows improving the paper cutting process, particularly large rolls – Soma, used to prepare paper for the production of books, magazines and other printed materials. The high-performance machine is capable of cutting 130 meters of paper from three rolls per minute. Then, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov visited a type-setting department. A young specialist told about the use of modern computer technologies and new type-setters – Suprasetter 106 and Lüscher XPose 230 are used. Sheet-fed machines allow printing products from five up to eight colors in one pass, and additionally installed sheet tumbling systems enable printing on both sides of the sheet in one pass. Printed products undergo both full and selective varnishing with the use of UV coating. Then, the head of state was familiarized with the facilities of a newspaper printing department. Each of the machines installed, is capable of printing up to 64,000 newspapers per hour. After becoming familiar with the production process, the head of state gave a commission to the relevant executives to consider the issue of recycling of newspaper metal printing plates. At the request of a specialist servicing the equipment, the nation’s leader launched the system to the applause of the audience. Taking a fresh issue of “Ashgabat” newspaper hot off the press in his hands, the head of state appraised the quality of printing and paper used. Then, the nation’s leader was shown the MANROLAND Cromoman offset roll production line, which allows printing three different printed products –newspapers, including multisectioned ones, magazines and books. A modern Ferag system enables to make transportation and packing of printed products automatic. Here, the nation’s leader gave the start-up to printing of one of the most important publications – the ABC book for primary school pupils. In the get-acquainted excursion to the newly built publishing complex, the head of state was also shown a binding department. To step up the production process and improve the quality of binding, a thread sealing machine and automatic book sewers have been introduced to the domestic printing industry. Then, the nation’s leader Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov was acquainted with the production processes for soft- and hard-cover printed products. A threadless binding line is designed for soft cover books and brochures. The line works both with traditional hot-melt adhesive and with polyurethane adhesive used by Turkmen printers for the first time. This makes it possible to improve the quality of bookbinding. An automatic transfer line, designed for the publication of hard-cover books, enables to speed up the production process of gift editions and the ones of particular importance. A new technology for the production of an “integral” cover has been introduced in the department as well. The process is performed by the Petratto SAB 100 M scoring machine with gluing and folding devices, which produces integral covers for hard-cover books, and makes it possible to decrease weight of a “product” and increase its durability, what is of particular importance for school textbooks. Having given the start-up to a modern production line, which is to print a new edition of “Kitaby dädem Gorkut”, the President of Turkmenistan has noted that the possibilities opened up with the commissioning of the new complex, would allow not only increasing the quantity and quality of publications, but also creating excellent design for them. The theme was continued during the familiarization of the head of state with a digital printing department located on the second floor of the complex. It is important to note that Turkmen printers have everything necessary for modern binding of exclusive gift editions, including with leather and gilded covers. The complex also boasts equipment for the production of color-proof samples to be approved by the customer. A new soft cover book was printed in the department with the use of the modern technologies. The book is dedicated to the historic event – the launch of the first communications satellite “TürkmenÄlem 52°E” into orbit, which has become a particularly powerful symbol of success and progressiveness of the large-scale transformations pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov in the epoch of power and happiness. Then, the head of state became acquainted with the conditions created for recreation of specialists of the Printing House, as well as employees of the editorial offices of several newspapers. The complex has everything necessary for sports activities, a tea-room, a canteen, and a conference hall. Having warmly congratulated the people assembled on the opening of the new complex of buildings of the Printing House, destined to play an important role in the development of our country’s printing industry, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov left a message in the Distinguished Visitors’ Book to commemorate the event. The head of state presented new cars to the Printing House.
