The project of constructing the gas chemical complex in the settlement of Kiyanly (in the Caspian Sea coast) has won a special award of “TXF” (Great Britain) organization as one of the Europe’s and Eurasia’s ten best projects of 2014 funded by export credit agencies. The decision was taken in the capital of France – Paris, at the early June meeting of representatives of the reputable international financial and insurance organizations, journalists. The gas chemical complex under construction in the settlement of Kiyanly is projected to process 5 BCM of natural gas, and produce 386 thousand tons of polyethylene and 81 thousand tons of polypropylene annually. The project is being implemented jointly with “TOYO Engineering” (Japan) and the consortium of companies – “LG International Corporation” and “Hyundai Engineering Corp. Ltd” (the Republic of Korea). The overall cost of the project is over US $3,432,000 thousand. The project is funded by foreign investors. The relevant ten-year credit agreements (over US $2,500,000 thousand) have been signed by the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, the Export-Import Bank of Korea, and the Syndicate of participating financial institutions of Japan, Germany, France, Korea, China, Austria, Switzerland, and other countries. To produce the ecologically clean products that meet the highest international standards, polyethylene and polypropylene will be produced on the basis of the most advanced technologies based on deep purification of raw materials (from the impurities) with the use of unique schemes. The granulated polypropylene is highly acclaimed at the world markets. It is used in the production of plastic films, artificial fibers, high-strength sheet thermoplastic materials, and correspondingly a variety of polymer products – pipes, hard thread, super-strength ropes, car filters, as well as various clothes and furniture, packing materials, food packaging, and others. Polyethylene, the other product of the complex, also has excellent export prospects. Polyethylene-based production of different pipes and mass consumer goods can also be organized. Noteworthy is the fact that the country’s first polypropylene plant in our country was constructed at the Turkmenbashi Refinery Complex in association with Japanese partners – the consortium of corporations: “JGC”, “Itochu”, “Nissho Iwai” and “Marubeni” with financial participation of the “Exim” Bank. Today, granulated polypropylene made of the liquefied gases (oil processing products) occupies one of the leading positions among the products manufactured by the Turkmenbashi Refinery Complex. The “geography” of its consumers is quite extensive: Japan, Russia, Turkey, Iran, China, and other countries. The packaging industry is the world’s leading polymer consumer (30 percent on average). On this basis, a “B-O-O-P” polypropylene film plant (with an annual capacity of 20,000 tons) is currently under construction at the Turkmenbashi Refinery Complex. The project is being carried out jointly with “P.T. ISTANA KARANG LAUT” (the Republic of Indonesia). Polypropylene film has unique properties, including high-heat resistance, durability and flexibility. It can be used as a packing material in the food, textile and pharmaceutical, perfumery and cosmetic industries, agriculture, and other sectors. Besides, the “BOOP” films can be used have applications for technical purposes: in the production of condensers, packing and Scotch tapes, labels, and others. Thus, polypropylene film to be produced at the Turkmenbashi Refinery Complex will have a vast market area both in our country and beyond.
