Last week, the national TV- and radio-channels broadcasting started in Turkmenistan via the «TürkmenÄlem 52°E» communication satellite. The telecontent users may take advantage of its services by turning their aerials towards 52 degree east longitude. The national channels satellite broadcasting covers a vast area (practically the entire Europe, the north of Africa and much of Asia) with the population of some 1,200 million people. All of them are the potential tele- and radio-audience of the Turkmen electronic media.. The transmission is performed in the high definition format in the vertical polarization and with the flow rate 27,500 characters per second. “Altyn Asyr: Turkmenistan”, “Yashlyk”, “Miras” and «Turkmenistan» TV channels and four radio programs can be received from a transponder at the frequency 12264 MHz, and TV channelsL “Ashgabat” about the capital’s life; musical - “Turkmen ovazy”; and “Turkmenistan: Sports” - at the frequency 12303 МГц. FEC – the amount of redundant information is 2/3; this makes it possible to assure the high quality even in adverse conditions. Broadcasting of the domestic television and radio programs via the satellite channels used prior to launching the «TürkmenÄlem 52°E» will be continued. To use the satellite’s capabilities for commercial purposes, as well as to render the appropriate services, “Türkmenhemrasy” Closed Corporation has been established. The satellite is capable of providing a package of multiservice communication services, including the digital television and radio broadcasting, telephony, videoconferencing, data transmission, Satellite Internet, and VSAT systems (Very Small Aperture Terminal).
