President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Deputy Prime Minister, Chief of Staff of the Government of the Russian Federation Konstantin Chuychenko and State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigory Karasin, who arrived in Ashgabat to attend the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation. Expressing gratitude for the opportunity of a personal meeting, the guests extended the warm greetings to the President of Turkmenistan, as well as congratulations on the upcoming Great Patriotic War Victory Day from President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, who conveyed the best wishes to the people of Turkmenistan. At the same time, the commitment of the Russian side to the traditionally friendly relations with Turkmenistan based on the solid experience of mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields was reaffirmed. The guests expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the condolences over the tragic accident at Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport. Greeting the guests and thanking them for the kind words, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the strategic nature of the interstate partnership that meets the mutual interests of the two countries. Having conveyed the greetings and congratulations on the upcoming holiday to the RF President, the Turkmen leader noted that our countries were bound with long-term fruitful cooperation built on the principles of. The head of state also wished success to the work of the Ashgabat meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission aimed at achieving concrete results. The state and prospects of bilateral cooperation were discussed during the meeting. In this regard, it was underlined the role of the Turkmen-Russian Intergovernmental Commission that contributes to the implementation of the solid potential of the partnership, the diversification of business contacts, the increase of goods turnover volume and expansion of the range of goods, as well as the enhancement of the investment activity. The meeting participants focused on the agenda of the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, which included the issues of cooperation in such important areas as trade and economic sphere, fuel and energy sector, industry, including chemical industry, agro-industrial complex, the introduction of advanced technologies. Transport, as one of the basic segments of the world economy, was specified as a priority vector of cooperation. Based on the advantageous geographical and geopolitical position, Turkmenistan initiates and consistently implements large-scale projects on the development of multimodal transit-transport corridors of regional and continental importance. A significant step in this direction was the commissioning of the new International Sea Port of Turkmenbashi last year. The traditional humanitarian dialogue, including scientific and educational sphere, stands as an integral part of the interstate relations. That is vividly proved by A.S. Pushkin Turkmen-Russian Secondary General School in Ashgabat and the established contacts in the sphere of higher education. Emphasizing the fact of careful attitude to the Russian language in Turkmenistan as the language of interethnic communication, the guests expressed their gratitude to the head of state for the continued active support provided to the humanitarian dialogue. Given the priorities of the state policy of the two countries, there are wide opportunities for expanding cooperation in the fields of sports, healthcare and tourism. In this context, Deputy Prime Minister, Chief of Staff of the Government of the Russian Federation, co-chair of the joint Intergovernmental Commission from the Russian side Konstantin Chuychenko, expressed his gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the attention to the issues of bilateral partnership and the conditions created to hold the meeting in Ashgabat. Taking this opportunity, Mr. Chuychenko congratulated all citizens of Turkmenistan and, first of all, the war veterans on the Victory Day, celebrated on May 9. According to Konstantin Chuychenko, the Russian partners will apply every effort to intensify the bilateral trade and economic cooperation and increase its indicators. In conclusion of the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and his guests expressed confidence that the Turkmen-Russian relations would continue developing, gaining new content, based on the ties of friendship and rich experience of cooperation. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan Alexander Blokhin attended the meeting.
