The eighth day of the competitions of the World Weightlifting Championship is finished. It detected the winners of men’s 102 kg weight category. Our compatriot Ovez Ovezov, who competed out of scoring, demonstrated the best result in in the snatch and in total and third result in the clean-and-jerk in B Group. In A group, the main contest was among the sportsmen from Uzbekistan, Iran and Ukraine in in the snatch. Weightlifter from Uzbekistan Akbar Jurayev, who lifted 180 kg in the final attempt and improved his own junior record, which was set several minutes before, won in this discipline. Ali Hashemi from Iran won the silver, having lifted 179 kg. Ukrainian weightlifter Dmytro Chumak could not manage declared weight and won the bronze. In the clean-and-jerk, another Iranian sportsman Reza Beiralvand won champion’s title. Having lifted the weight of 218 kg, he became the winner in the clean-and-jerk and took third place in total. Being the second in the clean-and-jerk and in total, Ukrainian athlete Dmytro Chumak won two silver and one bronze medals. The world champion in total Ali Hashemi (Iran) was the third in the clean-and-jerk. Having gold medal in the snatch, Akbar Jurayev from Uzbekistan set junior world record in total – 392 kg.
