The capital of Indonesia, Jakarta, welcomed the Turkmenistan National Team that arrived to participate in the 18th Asian Summer Games. To the solemn sounds of Turkmenistan’s anthem, our country’s flag was raised in the international zone of the Athletes’ Village. The athletes were welcomed by the mayor of the village, Yuni Karkita, who wished them success at the Asian Games. The delegation of our country received a memorable gift from the Organizing Committee of the Games. The flags of Afghanistan, Cambodia, Laos and Kuwait were also raised at the ceremony. The solemn opening ceremony of the 18th Asian Summer Games will take place today at the Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta. 65 athletes will represent Turkmenistan in 11 sports. Freestyle wrestlers and swimmers will enter the medal race tomorrow.
