Children’s Hospital Expands Health Facilities in Mary Velayat

The city of Mary has hosted the opening ceremony of a Children’s Hospital, timed to coincide with Medical Workers’ Day. Thanks to the meaningful health-care reforms, our country’s health system has been brought in line with global standards, and modern diagnostic and treatment centers, health resorts, pharmaceutical enterprises have been built countrywide as part of the state programs. This makes qualified medical care widely accessible to the people. On April 30, 2015 the President of Turkmenistan signed a Decree on the Construction of a Children’s Hospital in Mary to improve and upgrade medical facilities, ensure mother and child welfare and provision of medical care with the application of advanced health care technologies and innovations, as well as to implement the Memorandum of Understanding between the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation (UAE) and the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan. The official visit by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the United Arab Emirates in March 2018 represents a significant landmark in the advancement of Turkmen-Emirati cooperation. In the course of the summit talks, the head of Turkmenistan and Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE’s Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan discussed the implementation of the Children’s Hospital project in Mary, among other matters. The new health-care facility, which has officially opened its doors today, is intended to render medical services to young patients living in Mary velayat. The Hospital boasts the departments of surgery, gastroenterology, neurology, cardiorheumatology, intensive care and anesthesiology, diagnostics and medical consultations, radiology, as well as an admissions division, laboratory and blood bank. Different doctors, such as an ophthalmologist, otolaryngologist, cardiologist, urologist, orthopedic traumatologist, hearing specialist, and others will see and consult patients. The department of diagnostics and medical consultations is well equipped with an electroencephalograph, X-ray machine, tomograph, fiber optic video bronchoscope, fiber gastroscope, ECG machine, and other up-to-date equipment. The physiotherapy room boasts last-generation electrotherapy, phototherapy and heat therapy machines (UHF-therapy, electrophoresis, Quartz lamp therapy, etc.) The newly-built medical institution is tooled with highly accurate diagnostic and treatment equipment from the biggest foreign companies, specializing in medical devices, and is supplied with all necessary medical instruments specially designed for children. Single-bed and two-bed wards have everything necessary for patients’ comfort. The opening ceremony of the modern Children’s Hospital, which turned into an impressive festivity, was attended by medical workers, representatives of local authorities, elders, young people and scores of residents. Director General of the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation Mohammed Al Khouri was the guests of honor at the ceremony.
