On the occasion of the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, hosted a sadaqah and iftar at the specially designated venue at the Halk Hakydasy Memorial Complex. Turkmens honor the month of Ramadan. Throughout centuries, on every day of this blessed month that appeals for goodness and mercy, our fellow citizens practiced proper observances and rituals, focused on physical and moral cleansing and spiritual renewal. In accordance with national customs and traditions, sadaqah and iftars are organized in towns and villages, prayers are conducted for healthy and happy life and prosperity of the country. The head of state greeted the attendees and expressed his cordial congratulations on this wonderful holiday, stressing that this sadaqah and iftar on the occasion of the beginning of Ramadan that is, according to the great Turkmen poet and thinker, Magtymguly, is a month of blessed unity and cohesion, are highly symbolic as they coincide with the widely celebrated Day of Constitution and the State Flag of Turkmenistan. “Let the Almighty accept the prayers and sadaqahs! Kabul bolsun!” said the President and requested the mufti of Turkmenistan to pronounce the tabarak prayer. The mufti prayed to the Almighty for peace and stability on the Turkmen land, for unity of the people, for health and success of the head of state, asking to accept the sadaqah offered by the highly esteemed haji, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Then the guests were offered various dishes of the national cuisine. Following the meal, the head of state requested the mufti of Turkmenistan to conduct a prayer to conclude the ceremony. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov bid a warm farewell to the guests and left the venue.
