The second day of National Boxing Championship is over. Selbi Kuvusheva representing the team from Lebap Velayat took over Alyona Durova from Ashgabat in women competitions in the weight category up to 54 kg. It is worth mentioning that rules of women boxing are the same as the men’s – the fight consists of three rounds three minutes each. The only difference is that wearing helmet is mandatory in women fights. After, men in the weight category up to 56 kg started the fights. Representative of the capital team Begench Alymov took over this time in the fight between the sportsmen from Ashgabat and Lebap. Begench Muratguliyev from Mary Velayat was leading in two rounds in the fight against Ovez Halliyev from Ahal Velayat and losing side decided to finish the contest ahed of time. Representative of Lebap Velayat Zarip Achilov took over his competitor from Ashgabat Lukman Dovletgeldiyev in three rounds. In the fourth fight, Bayramhan Permanov demonstrated deserving resistance to favourite of the tournament – prize winner of 2017 Islamic Games Yakup Meredov, however, he lost to him by points. After, quarterfinal fights were continued in the weight category up to 60 kg. Begmyrad Halmyradov from Ashgabat was the winner of the first fight. He knocked down his rival Mansur Salimov in the second round. However, the representative of Lebap team has managed to stand against him deservingly until the final ring. The fight between two representatives of the capital team Hursant Imamkuliyev, the bonze winner of 2017 Islamic Games, and Shohrat Jumayev was equal. Nevertheless, the punches of H. Imamkuliyev were more accurate and he won the fight. Boxer from the capital Yazmurat Gurbanov took over Timur Halilov from Dashoguz Velayat. The contest of Ashgabat sportsmen was the first in the weight category up to 69 kg. Serdar Amangeldiyev won Resul Myrat Durdiyev with remarkable advantage. Bagtiyar Jorayev representing Lebap Velayat won Sapardurdy Bagiyev from Ashgabat in stubborn fight and entered next round of the competitions. Muhammetmyrat Syahedov was luckier in the fight against Bahadur Mratov. Both athletes represent the capital team. Timur Tajimov from Dashoguz Velayat confidently won Rahym Atabayev from Ashgabat. Another day of the championship was finished by the fight in the weight category up to 81 kg between representatives of Lebap team Mammed Altiyev and Farhad Shadmanov. The fight was stopped by the referee due to obvious advantage of M. Altiyev. Press conference took place after the fights where two-time Olympic Champion Oleg Sayitov, Head Coach of Turkmenistan team Alexander Lebzyak and Vice-President of International Amateur Boxing Association and President of Asian Boxing Confederation Serik Kanakbayev made speech. The speakers noted high level of organization of the competitions and sport facilities of the Olympic village, skills and commitment of the participants. The confidence in great perspectives of Turkmen boxing in the country and in international arena has been expressed. Warm words were also addressed to the fans. It was noted that National team, which would represent Turkmenistan in 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, would be formed by the outcomes of the championship and other international tournament
