At the session of the Central Commission for conduct of election and referenda of Turkmenistan, there were resumed the final results of the Mejlis deputies’ elections in some constituencies, held on May 21, as well as Halk Maslahaty and Gengeshi members in connection with changes in the administrative-territorial structure of the regions. The meeting was attended by members of the Central Election Commission, representatives of the working groups, established at the Central Election Commission, national observers, and mass media.

In total, two deputies of the Mejlis, 41 members of the Halk Maslahaty and 134 members of the Gengeshes are to be elected for Turkmenistan. In this regard, 177 districts and 255 polling stations operate.

Today, independent neutral Turkmenistan is celebrating one of the most important dates on the national calendar – Constitution and Magtymguly Fragi’s Poetry Day. The national holiday, which symbolically links the adoption of the country’s Constitution and celebration in honor of the great poet and thinker, represents the continuity of spiritual and democratic experience of the Turkmen nation, and glorifies the national unity and concord.

In Turkmenistan, the work is underway to draft a new version of the Law “On Countering Corruption”. This was reported at a joint session of the Cabinet and the State Security Council by Security Council Secretary, Minister of Defense of Turkmenistan Ya.Berdiyev.
