11 years ago, on February 14, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was elected the President of Turkmenistan.

In the course of the second qualifying round of the Asian Football Confederation Cup 2018, the Turkmen team “Akhal” won the “Khujand” club of Tajikistan with the score 1:0. The match took place in the multifunctional sports complex in the administrative center of Balkan velayat.

Successful social and economic development of Turkmenistan is proven by numerous indices including by high investment activity. Today, the construction complex is oriented to the realization of large-scale state programmes for industrialization, creation of modern transport infrastructure, import substitutive production and increment of export goods, living construction and reformation of the regions. Agricultural Complex of the capital held the conference where the matters of further development of water sphere of the country have been discussed. Hyakims of the velayats, deputies of the Mejlis, heads and leading specialists of agricultural complex, number of ministries and departments, State Commercial Bank Dayhanbank as well as representatives of the Academy of Sciences, personnel of water management, professors and lecturers of profile universities, personnel of scientific and research institutes took part in the meeting.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed his condolences to President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev over the crash of «An-148» passenger plane, which entailed numerous human losses.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Resolution, authorizing the Turkmenneft State Concern to sign the contract with Mawy Kenar Joint Enterprise on cleaning up land based oil spills in Balkan Velayat.

At the session of the Cabinet of Ministers on February 9, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted the historical importance of new findings discovered by the scientists in Dankanakan Fortress in Mary Velayat. Archaeological excavations at this medieval monuments, which is located 30 kilometres west of Mary, are carried out under the work on study of historical and cultural heritage of the Great Silk Road.
