The outcomes of the Summit of the Heads of the IFAS Founding Countries were voiced at the meeting of the Presidents of the five Central Asian countries with the media.

Turkmenistan always advocated for consideration and resolution of water-related and environmental problems in Central Asia on the basis of universally recognized norms of international law, with regard for the interests of all countries of the region, with participation of international organizations, acknowledging that only regional consensus can be the only acceptable form of effective interstate cooperation.

On 12 April 2018, the UN GA Resolution on Cooperation between the United Nations and the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea was prepared and unanimously adopted upon Turkmenistan’s initiative, reminded President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov speaking at the Summit of the Heads of the IFAS Founding States.

It is obvious that saving the Aral Sea cannot be viewed as an internal, regional problem, stressed President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the Summit of the Heads of IFAS Founding States in Avaza.

A summit meeting with the participation of the official delegations has begun in the Congress Center in the Avaza National Tourist Zone (where the Summit of the Heads of IFAS Founding Member-States is well underway) after the top-level meeting.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has met with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, who arrived in our country to attend the Summit of leaders of the founding member states of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.

Today, the Summit of leaders of the founding member-states of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea opens in Avaza National Tourist Zone. Prior to the forum, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has met with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Improvement of efficient cooperation with neighbouring countries in the region is one of key vectors of Turkmenistan foreign course. High-level talks between the Heads of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan, during which the willingness of the sides to bring traditional friendly dialog to new level has been confirmed, are another evidence to this. This meeting is an important event in the history of Turkmen – Kyrgyz relations.
