According to the CEC, 97.27 percent of voters have given their votes in the presidential elections that have been held in Turkmenistan. The data is as of 7 pm, when the nationwide polls closed.
Counting of votes will determine which of the nine candidates will be the President of Turkmenistan. The elections were observed by national and international observers.
Polling stations were opened at exactly 7 am, at the same time across the country, the vote was also held and the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Turkmenistan abroad. Applicants for the post of the President of Turkmenistan, including the current Head of State were among the first who came to the polls.
The election campaign and the media campaign, starting from the date of registration of candidates, lasted till 10th of February. According to national legislation and international law, all of the candidates were given equal rights and opportunities for election campaigning, meetings with voters, and speaking to the media.
