A working videoconference meeting held on January 12 brought together representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the heads and specialists of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Joint-Stock Commercial Bank "Halkbank", as well as the head EBRD representative office in Turkmenistan. The meeting agenda focused on the development of bilateral cooperation and its prospects.
Meeting participants of the noted that due to the far-sighted policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan had significantly expanded its ties with international financial and economic structures, including the EBRD.
Meeting participants exchanged views on the prospects for building up relations in line with the ongoing reform of the national economy implemented in the country.
One of the key aspects of these reforms is the intensification of investment activities based on the favorable climate created in the country for attracting foreign investment and funds from the domestic business sector.
The important role of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank "Halkbank" in the development of the private sector of the Turkmen economy was underlined.
The plans of the participants in the videoconference meeting include the events to support modern business models and corporate governance in the banking sector.
