On December 3, the ministers of the OSCE member states held a regular session of the Council of the OSCE Member States in the videoconference format. The two-day online meeting, traditionally held at the end of the year, brought together the ministers of foreign affairs of the OSCE member states.
The meeting participants discussed a wide range of issues on the regional and world agenda of mutual interest, as well as the main political, economic, cultural and humanitarian aspects of multilateral cooperation, which is successfully developing on the platform of this authoritative organization.
The heads of delegations, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the OSCE member states and partner countries spoke during plenary sessions held in frames of the meeting.
In the coming 2021, it is planned to implement 68 joint projects, of which 37 ones - in the political sphere, 13 - in the economic sphere and 18 projects - in the humanitarian field, in particular, in the spheres of education, science and culture.
The OSCE and Turkmenistan called the consolidation of efforts to address urgent problems in the field of ecology and environmental protection, the efficient use of water and natural resources, as well as climate change issues.
In this context, it was proposed to draft an OSCE Comprehensive Environmental Programme, which will help to specify the priorities of the Organization in the environmental sphere.
Once again, it was underlined the expediency of Turkmenistan’s proposal on creation of specialized structures of the OSCE - the Council on Sustainable Energy and the Commission on Transport Policy.
The OSCE member states express their support for the conceptual initiatives put forward by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to actively use the possibilities of preventive diplomacy and enhance the role of neutrality policy as the most effective tools for peacemaking and reaching consensus in emerging conflict situations.
The meeting participants approved Turkmenistan’s constructive approach to the solution of this problem and the practical steps taken consistently in this direction.
Among them are the International Conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality, as well as the high-level Forum to be held in 2021.
