President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
Cordially greeting each other, the leaders of two states have expressed satisfaction to exchanges the opinions on condition and perspectives of Turkmen – Afghan dialog in personal conversation as well as to discuss some aspects international and regional policy, which presents mutual interest.
It has been mentioned that beneficial geographic location of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan is very important for implementation of strategic projects of formation of new transit and transport corridors.
This is indicated by such major projects as construction of transnational Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India gas pipeline (TAPI) high-voltage and fiber optic communication line Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan, Akina – Andhoy railway.
The sides have also made special mention of the role of Lapis Lazuli transit and transport corridor, which has been established under the Agreement signed between Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey and which would increase trade volumes between Central and South Asian countries and European states by thus, giving new impulse to development of interregional trade and economic relations.
President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has expressed deep gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for his firm and invariable support of Afghanistan in the world political arena. Thus, during international conference on Afghanistan, which was held in Geneva on November 23 – 24, 2020, Turkmenistan has focused on the necessity of development of infrastructural projects in future. At the same time, specific financial and material contribution of Turkmenistan to practical implementation of such projects has been highlighted.
Turkmen and Afghan nations are united by ancient traditions of fraternity and mutual respect, common spiritual and historical values.
Coming opening ceremony of the mosque, which was built in Akina, Andhoy District, Faryab Province as a humanitarian aid from Turkmen side to the people of Afghanistan, is another evidence for this.
The Head of the State has also noted that medicine and medical supplies, food, textile and household production would be sent to Afghanistan as humanitarian aid soon.
The leader of Afghanistan has highlighted that his country sincerely cares of good neighborliness relations with Turkmenistan and highly appreciates peace-loving foreign policy of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which is an important factor of support of stability, peace, and security in the region.
Discussing the issues of the world agenda, the Heads of two states have noted the necessity of development of coordinated and single approach to solution of current modern problems including the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
Turkmenistan thinks that it is necessary to activate international cooperation aimed at development of coordinated activities in this sphere, Turkmen leader highlighted.
In the end of the conversation, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Mohammad Ashraf Ghani expressed confidence that bilateral relations would be strengthened and expanded in all directions, in political, trade, economic and cultural spheres based on the best traditions of friendship and good neighborliness, mutual goodwill of the sides, having addressed the wishes of peace, goodness and wealth to the people of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.
The telephone conversation took place at the initiative of the Afghan side.
